I'm working on the family of Garmong. I recieved the following note about one of the Garmongs. I'm wondering if Garmong, Allemong and I've seen the surname Mong from this area could be the same family. I know that some of the Garmong changed their name to Gormong, Garman, Garmon. Below this note are some of the Desc of Christian Garmong, of Frederick Co. Va. If you have idleas or suggestions, please let me know. With this uncommon surname, I can't find his trail anywhere. Notes for RICHARDSON GARMONG: [Gormong.FTW] A postcard in the possession of Susan Hannum addressed to him as Mr. Richard Gorman, Dennison, IL, reads: "Aug 19, 1881 Eugene Ind Dear Brother when you see manuel and hear anything about the property please write and let me know and when you see Anna tell her that I would like for to send me the two dollars she owes me I wanted to see her before I come away but did not get too [sic] I want you and Rhoda to take good care of Mother and be sure and write and let me know of [sic] she gets sick write soon I will be anxious to hear from you Molly" This postcard would have been written within two years of the death of Emanuel Sr. The "manuel" mentioned must be Richard's brother Emanuel. With Jonas in Tennessee and Calvin, Charles and James all dead, Emanuel would have been the eldest available son, likely the one to care for his father's estate. Perhaps the property in question was the estate. "Anna" may be his sister Ann Rebecca. The mother, Rebecca, evidently lived with Richard and Rhoda after her husband's death.
