This large tract was a part of the larger 100,000-acre patent from the Governor and Council of the Colony of Virginia issued to Jost Hite, Robert McKay, William Duff and Robert Green. Thomas Marshall, Clerk of Frederick County, presented a resurvey of the 6,460-acre tract (which established that the tract contained 9,860 acres) to the Commissioners in the Hite/Fairfax lawsuit on 3 May 1770.[231] (Tract 103, Maps 10 and 11) This tract is accessible by County Highway 678 north from Virginia Highway 55 between Front Royal and Strasburg and from Edinburg on the North River Shenandoah and from Luray on the south River Shenandoah by county Highway 675. Access from Woodstock, Virginia is by county Highway 758.
