    1. RE: [OLD-FREDERICK-CO-VA] Capt Jeremiah Smith (1711-1787) Burial Place & Enoch Park (1794-1859) Homestead

    3. Go west on U.S. Route 50 (Winchester to Romney). After crossing Back Creek, turn right on the next dirt road. Follow that road across a railroad track and go several hundred feet (or yards) more until the road turns left. The Jeremiah Smith cemetery is on a bank to the left, just at the point where the road turns to the left and starts an uphill climb. This should get you there. If I had a road map at my fingertips, I would identify the (dirt) road #, and if I was there in my car, I could give you the exact distances. Without those two aids, I have given ballpark directions. My impression is that Enoch Park lived along Grassy Lick Road, between Romney and Kirby. I have not done on-site research on this for more than a decade, so I will not attempt provide more detail. According to Dr. Kerns, in his book "Frederick County, Virginia: Settlement and Some First Families of Back Creek Valley, 1730-1830--this site is "just north of U.S. Route 50 on the west side of Back Creek near Gore, VA", but I don't know exactly where or how to get there. Also, in Hardy County, I am looking for anyone with information on the homestead (including exact location) of Enoch Park (1794-1859) m. Margaret Ruckman. I have heard that it is still standing. Enoch is buried near Kirby, WV. Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.
