    3. From: "Patrick J. Henry" <pjhenry@mindspring.com> To: PACLARIO-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [CLARION] John Henry and Ester McConnell of Pennsylvania I have information on John HENRY b: 1759 d: Feb 2, 1819 - m: Ester McCONNEL {Note: Both Scotch-Irish descent, settled in Clarion Co. in spring 1799 and returned to Westmoreland Co. for the winter bringing his family the next spring (1800) to Clarion Co. to live.}. Unfortunately, of the 151 names that I have in this line, I have very little details. This information comes from a window blind that my grandaunt, Anna Mae (HENRY) MILNER, sister of my grandfather, Alva Leroy HENRY. As the story goes, "Aunt Annie" wrote letters to family members requesting family information. The letters have long since been lost, but she transcibed the information onto a window blind. I have no idea where she found a window blind that is 5 ft wide by 8 ft high, but she found one. She then drew a tree on one side using different color crayons to draw the limbs. The one side, which I refer to as the front side, contained 896 names and is my direct line. My name was even included in this information. All of my brothers and sisters, except the baby of the family, were included. Therefore, this dates the creation of the window blind to some time between March 1960 and December 1965. On the other side (the back side), she drew another tree which was color coded and contained 151 names. There is no indication as to the relationship of the people on the front side to the people on the back side. Aunt Annie also used names such as Tommy, Billy, and Bobby. There are 2 problems with this: 1) I am assuming that Tommy = Thomas, Billy = William, etc. and 2) I don't know if these are their first names or middle names. My older brother is shown as "Allen", but his name is Glenn Alan. So she used his middle name and misspelled it. She also did not include surnames on each branch, so I tried to be very careful when transcribing the families. There were only dates on some of the main branches. Hence, getting the birth order correct was next to impossible. Well, enough about the blind. I have included the transcribed information below. I am looking for anyone who can help me make the connection between the front and back side trees. If you have any connections to this line, I would like to converse with you. Please contact me, Patrick J. Henry, 2527 Elizabeth Drive, Pelham, AL 35124-2607, or at pjhenry@mindspring.com. Note : The ID numbers used below are derived from my own system using the pedigree chart as the master. Example number : H0008.4.2.1 The H indicates that this person can be found on the Henry side of the genealogy, while a leading L indicates that this person can be found on the Lyon (my wife's maiden name) side of the family genealogy. The first number (leading zeroes are optional) indicates the position on the pedigree chart where we have a common ancestor. I am # 1 on the pedigree chart. My father is # 2 and my mother is #3. My father's father is # 4 and my father's mother is #5, etc., etc. As for our example number, we can now determine how this person is related to me!!! H00008.4.2.1 ^\-+-/ ^ ^ ^ | | | | +----First found child of the previous person | | | +------Second found child of the previous person | | +--------Fourth found child of Number Eight on the Pedigree chart | +------------Number Eight on the Pedigree chart {which is our common ancestor) +---------------Henry side of the genealogy. I hope this does not confuse you too much. I used the word "Found" instead of "born" because many times I did not find an older brother or sister until after I had already assigned a number to this person. So, as not to have to re-number people once I found an older sibling, I just numbered them as I FOUND them. Also, if I could not determine the exact spelling, I transcibed the name as best I could and noted the possible spelling error with a "(sp?)" notation. If the information was unreadable or missing, I put the notation "?" in place of the data. Names from the back side of the window blind: I) John Henry b: 1759 d: Feb 2, 1819 - m: Ester McConnel (sp?)
