Hi Diane and List, I knew I would forget something and I need to continue 1743-1758 Frederick CO VA starting with Ellis. This kind of work takes hours to type because of all my notes on these Quakers. Here is how I do it - I take a blank sheet of paper and start with the oldest Quaker family I find listed either by Gilbert Cope or by using my Quaker books. First page has children and their wifes' and then I add a page for each child listed and write in their children and many Quakers I have 2 or 3 generations with their Quaker birth, Marriage and death records . I write notes by many of the names on my charts so I know where to look for more info for a given child. I have taken the 1696/97 Brandywine Hundred, New Castle CO DE tax list with 40 men listed and compiled a wife for most of them. You will not find a tax list anywhere like this at this time frame. I have done the same for the Nottingham, PA tax lists. 2 of these Tax lists are on the Cope forum and the 3rd I will give to this list . Look at my letter listing East and West Nottingham, PA 1722 tax lists by Gilbert Cope . I have wife's for many of the men on the list you now have. OK- latest- I could not find a Edward Evans in my Frederick CO VA deed books and I have 8 of them from 1743-1789. I have Frederick CO VA Abtract wills and sofar no Edward Evans. I have 1743-45 Frederick CO Court records and no Edward Evans listed. Gilbert Cope shows several immigrant Evans in his History of Chester CO PA & Bio-Sketches 1881. I found one in this book that appears in the Hopewell, VA Quaker records. Richard & Phebe Evans members of the Uwchlan, Chester CO PA MMs 12.4.1777 per Gilbert Cope who says they went to Hopewell, VA and the VA records shows Richard & Phebe from Uwchlan came 6.1.1778 . Their Children are Thomas, Sarah, Margaret, Mary, Catherine, Phebe, Evan, Wheelon and Martha. This family is listed with cert. to Goose Creek, MM ? 8.6.1787. Here is what Gilbert Cope shows on Richard Evans and this gets interesting to say the least. Bio- Page 539 Hist. of Chester CO PA by Gilbert Cope- Evan Evans came to this area of PA in 1722 coming from Treeglws, Montgomeryshire, Wales . His widow Margaret marr. 2nd Charles Galiff- note: this man Charles Gatliff has several daus. by first wife I believe Mary. He has 2 sons James & Reece Gatliff. I believe James Gatliff is the sameone listed 1760s Augusta CO VA and this family is listed in Greenbrier CO VA ( was Augusta ) 1780s. There is a Capt. Charles Gatliff , James , Letitia and Neal Gatliff in the " Early Settlers of Fort Boonesborugh, KY " pamlet by H.Thomas Tudor . I believe these Gatliffs' are desc. of Charles Gatliff listed several more time by Gilbert Cope . These Quaker PA Gatliffs married into the Jones family who are in-laws to a dau of Thomas Buffington & wife Ruth COPE dau. of Oliver of DE. FYI- in Gilbert Copes' 800 page book big as a large family bible I find 2 1/2 pages in the index on the Evans surname in PA. Evan Evans and Magaret children and one we now know went to Frederick CO VA 1778. work done by Gilbert Cope 1) Martha marr. Stephen Hoopes- I know this family well they are BIO'D by Gilbert Cope. 2) Mary marr. 1- William Clayton- not sure but should be related to the NJ Claytons 1670s, she marr. 2nd Isaac Marshall. 3) Margaret marr. John Todhunter 4) Evan died 1748 - he has a Chester CO PA will and was not married left to family his poss. 5) Susanna marr.1st Isaac Serrill and 2nd Robert Carter 6) Thomas marr. Eleanor Reese 17 Aug 1748 Uwchlan MM- her father was James Reese. 7) Ann- may have died young 8) Eward- Gilbert thinks he died young but Iam finding if they left with the first wave 1730 Gilbert would loose them. 9) RICHARD marr. Phebe WHELEN about 1763 dau. of Dennis Whelen per Gilbert Cope. I see this couple have a child named Wheelon in VA. ?? Hey is there a Wheelon, West VA on record. The big question is where did these VA Quaker Evans go and who are their desc.s . I know Many of these Quaker Frederick CO VA families went to Ohio. David Crow Cope
