Family lore says that the family of my ancestor, Edward Evans, was from Frederick County, VA. Indications are that this family was living, at one point, at what would now be Winchester, VA. (Edward's military records show that he was from Fredericktown or Fredericksburg, which I think I found was the original name for Winchester.) From there, parts of that Evans family moved to the Monongahela River system area of PA/VA, which is now PA/WV. I am told, but have never been able to prove, that Edward Evans, who fought in the French and Indian War, was the grandson of William Evans, who reportedly came from Wales after 1688. I suspect that this family came from the Delaware County, Pa area to Williamsburg, MD/Frederick County VA area in the first part of the 1700s. I have written a well documented book, The Descendants of the Drummer Boy: Edward Evans of VA. However, I have never been able to prove the actual lineage of Edward. All I have is "hearsay". Does anyone have any information on this family?
