I need some help!! I have unearthed quite a few Haden/Hayton/Haydon/Heaton records for Johns, Thomases, Williams and Georges. I am having a horrible time figuring out who is who. I am looking for information regarding a John Hayton (Haton) who married a Mary Haton. John supposedly died about 1749, and Mary indentured her 4 children, John (who died in 1809 in Washington County, VA) , George, William and Elizabeth (listed as a bastard child). I believe there was a 5th child...Nancy Haton, who married a David Proffit. Nancy was born on the Pamunkey River in 1745. I have a reference to a John Hayton in George Washington's Papers, working with a John Hite for William Ramsay, supplying the troops during the French-Indian War. I also have a reference to a James Hayton (Heaton), and Heaton's Battery --could this be a brother? But, the ironic thing is a will for John Hayton in Fredrick County in 1795..indicating that perhaps he did not die in 1749...can anyone out there shed some light on my dilemma?? Many Thanks- Kathy Hayton Cramer Clinton, Tennessee
