Hi Carolyn, You all are going to see a great interest in the Quakers in Frederick CO VA soon and a good place to start is some one here take on the task of printing William Wade Hinshaws Hopewell VA Quaker records in his VA Quaker book pages 357-462 . William Wade Hinshaws listed some of the first Quakers in Frederick CO VA starting in 1734 including Thomas Babb, Alexander Ross ,Morgan Bryan Isaac Perkins, Abraham Hollingsworth, HUGH PARRELL , Richard BEESON and more.. William Wade Hinshaw says the Hopewell Quakers records for 1735 to 1759 were lost in a fire at the house of Quaker Clerk William Jolliffe JR. I now see why know one has discovered how big this meeting was in those missing years and why the Quaker research hit a road block here. When I get a chance I will look for McGlaughlin and I did see Daniel McGloughlan SR and JR on the 1782 Hampshire CO VA tax list of Michael Cresap. Brinton Bio- By Gilbert Cope 1881 pages 486-487- I will give some of this info just have no time to list it all because Iam a slow typist. William Brinton from Nether, Gowrnal, England came to Dudley meeting in Phila, 1684 died in Chester CO PA 1700 , wife Ann Begley dau. of Edward , this family moved to Birmingham, Chester CO PA were I find him listed 1693 with son William JR Birmingham, PA tax list pg 33 of Gilbert Cope's book 1881. Children- 1) William marr. Jane Thatcher 10.9.1690 dau. of Richard & Jane Thatcher who are on the 1693 Birmingham, PA tax list as well. This William Brinton is on the 1715 Thornbury, PA tax list with now old Friend Thomas MERCER listed as Masser. Note: this family has the next generation listed in the bios. 2) Elizabeth marr. Hugh Harris aka HARRY 2.12.1686 and he died by 1708 . I found Hugh and Daniel Harris on the ship " Vine " that came to Phila, 17.7.1684 per- Gilbert Cope 1881 bk page 22. These 2 men are listed from Macchinleth, Montgomeryshire, Wales. I have read that the Quaker minister Hugh Roberts has dozens of cousins who came on the ship Vine but he is not listed by Cope. Hugh Robert son Aubrey Roberts is on a 1730 Uwchlan , Chester CO PA deed as witness for George WILLCOCKSON to Philip Yarnall . Some of the Boone related Willcocksons' believe he is the immigrant ancestor for this family and some of these Willcocksons I call hour glass families are with my Cope family in Copeville, Collin CO TX 1880. Philip Yarnall and John Cope are on several Quaker weddings together 1730 Chester CO PA and Phillip Yarnall is an ancestor of Anna Garrett Cope wife of Gilbert Cope 1840-1928 in the Genealogy Hall of Fame in Arlington, VA. 3) Esther Brinton marr. John Willis - per Cope, and this couple sold land to John Cope in 1712 and are at the weding of John Cope to Charity Jefferis 30 Nov 1721 widow of a John Evans. John Willis is on the 1693 Thornbury, Chester CO PA tax and the 1715 tax with Thomas Mercer and William Brinton JR. 4) Ann marr. John Bennett 4.18.1684 Staffordshire meeting . Note: on the Bennett bio pgs 480-481 I find John Bennet's brother Edward Bennett marr. Margery Willis 1687 but Gilbert Cope does not say who she is. This is the immigrant Brinton family I have so far and I know that if I spent several days on this family I could add alot more . I might as well add this for Willis and you will see how this gets convoluted as they say. John Willis ( wife Esther Brinton ) has a 28 Mar 1745 Thornbury , Chester CO PA will and here are the children. 1) Benjamin NFI 2) Henry - wife unk. may have desc.s in Pittsylvania CO VA 1760s . 3) Mary marr. John Wall 4) Ann marr. 7.13.1722 Birmingham MM to Joseph Webb son of Richard & Elizabeth Webb - his bio page 760 1881 Cope book. 5) John will 28 Apr 1728 wife Mary - may be Mary Webb widow of George Brown. 6) Esther Willis marr. Stephen FOULKE son of Elizabeth Cope dau. of Oliver Cope. Stephen Foulk's sister Sarah marr. Thomas BABB 1729 Old Swede Church and this couple are in Frederick CO VA by 1734. 7) Edward has a 1732 will wife Katherine . 8) Sarah marr. Thomas Ward Wit; to John Willis SR will are Samuel Bettle wife is Ann Brinton dau. of William Brinton & Jane Thatcher and Joseph Brinton JR who marr. Mary Pierce 10.16.1711 Concord PA MM dau. of George Pierce & Ann Gainer, Joseph Brinton marr. 2nd Mary Elgar 2.14.1748 . This Joseph Brinton is the son of William & Jane Thatcher Brinton. children- 1) Joseph b) 11.30.1692 and you have his wifes. 2) William b) 6.25.1694 marr. Hannah Bullar 2.26.1716, marr. 2nd Azuba Townsend 5.9.1724 and marr. 3rd- Cecily Chamberland 5.1734- I do not have the meeting houses for these marriages. 3) Edward b) 12.12.1704 marr. Hannah Pierce 4.17.1724 dau. of George & Ann Gainer Pierce. 5) Mary b) 2.1.1708 marr. Daniel Corbet 9.8.1739 6) Ann b) 2.19.1710- marr. Samuel Bettle 2.29.1731- on will of John Willis 7) John b) 5.4.1715 marr. Elizabeth Vernon 2.21.1736- Note: believe Elizabeth Vernon here is related to Elizabeth Vernon wife of Andrew JOB died 1722 and she is on the 1722 East Nottingham, PA tax list. The JOBs' marr. into the Quaker McCoys of VA and these same Jobs are listed in Augusta CO VA 1740s and 1750s . Joshua Job son of Andrew has 2 sons Enoch and Moses on the 1785 Shenandoah CO VA tax list. Andrew Job is a witness for deed from Oliver COPE to Robert PYLE 1695 Birmingham, Chester CO PA . It is starting to look like the Copes' can be inserted with just about any Chester CO PA Quaker family and time will tell. David
