Frederick CO VA deed- 6 Sept 1762 Valentine Crawford & Sarah to Jacob Townsend , land by Jacob HITE and Abraham Hite -listed on the McCoy will is with Col. William Crawford miltia from Frederick CO VA in Greenbier CO VA. On this deed is Col. Adam Stephen and is listed as having the Berekely CO VA Militia in Greenbrier CO VA Indian Wars. Note: Iam trying to prove these Crawfords are from New Castle CO DE and this won't be easy. The Greenbrier book has a Cope related family of Indian Spy Philip Hammon & Chrstina Cook who''s dau. Mary married James P. Cope 1806 Montgomery CO KY. Thank you for the reminder of Greenbrier CO VA a place Iam tracting back to Quakers. PS- a Jon. Buffington and family were killed by Indians in Greenbrier CO VA about the same time as Crawford and I believe this Buffingtons are the 1782 Hamsphre CO VA William Buffington & Magdalena Feree family. There is a KY Crawford family that married into my Cope family out of Estill CO KY 1820s. PS- Iam also a Floyd CO KY MCCOY desc. and that is why I took off like a rocket after them .
