    2. Hi Jim, In a book I just got yesterday, CAPON VALLEY, It's Pioneers and Their Decendants, 1698 to 1940, by Maud Pugh, it says this, North River Mills, a rare village of rare people on a branch of the Potomac, of which Ice Mountain, with its Raven Rocks, its caves with ice in July, its spruce, rhododendron and ferns, then the home of the red fox and the wild dear, was its background. It also says it was a thriving village with two burrh flower mills. Two boys from Capon Bridge, alternating, carried the mail on a prancing horse, via the Springfield Grade to Slanesville. This book has a wealth of information about the area and the pioneers who settled it. Hope this helps.
