I have CARPENTERs who were settled in Cumberland and Anson (Moore and Montgomery) Co., NC by the 1760s. Have been stuck at a roadblock with them for fifteen years, but now am seeing indications that they may have come down from Old Frederick(Hampshire) Co., VA, perhaps by way of Augusta/Botetourt. Have just learned that there was atleast a Solomon CARPENTER who settled on the Cacapon/Cacapehon/Capon River in the 1730s and Solomon is a name that runs in my CARPENTER line. There may have been other CARPENTERs there as well. Would anybody have any CARPENTER data from Frederick/Hampshire in the 1700s? Don't know with which families these CARPENTERs would conceivably have been associated in old Frederick, but two names which entered the line about then are Owen and Temple or Templeton. Perhaps there were connections with OWEN or OWENS and TEMPLETON, or atleast families who used those names. This is a new lead and it has been a long dry spell with these CARPENTERs. Would greatly appreciate any CARPENTER data anybody might have.
