My ancestors, James and Martha [MILLER] HOLMES, lived in the Jane Furnace area of Botetourt co., VA c1840. Later, they lived in the Covington, VA area. Their daughter, Mary, is my g-grandmother. Mary m: 1) Robert SIMMS; 2) David C. HILL, both in Botetourt county. At the end of the civil war, Martha Holmes came to the Ritchie County, VA[WV] area with her daughters, Mary Holmes SIMMS HILL & husband, David, and Martha HOLMES BECKNER & her husband, Allen, along with all the grandchildren.
