Not that I know of. It has been Shinaberry/Shinabery since abt 1796. I have sometimes seen it spelled Shineberry. They traveled to Ohio with the Yoakam family, arriving in Knox Co Ohio abt 1807. I can account for them from this time on, but can't make a connection back. Some say the name was Shoenberger/Shoenberg at one time. I would guess this was the name at the time they left Germany or Switzerland. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Kay or Darrell Groves" <kdwgroves@yahoo.com> To: <OLD-FREDERICK-CO-VA-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, January 19, 2003 10:46 PM Subject: [OLD-FREDERICK-CO-VA] Was the name ever shortened to Shinn? > > The Shinn surname is quite common in Central WV. > remarksk <kskramer@wcoil.com> wrote:Would anyone have any history of the early > settlers of Back Creek VA.
