Hello list, Charla Marchione responded to Karen Austin about the Owen Thomas family and this book was mentioned. I really couldn't tell if Karen had said something about it and it was quoted in Charla's reply, or not. Anyhow, I have two collateral ancestors who were married in old Frederick County Virginia on 10 Apr 1768 by a traveling minister from Frederick County Maryland. They were Jacob SURBER and Catherine {HALLER} COFFIELD. Both were of Swiss German origin from Kanton Zurich. I have been told that the marriage was recorded in Maryland, but I haven't seen the records and don't know where to look. I'd also like to know the name of this minister. He was supposedly on his third such trip through Virginia, and I would guess that he was either Lutheran or Reformed. If whoever has the "Colonial Ministers..." book could look in there for me, I'd appreciate it. Any any clues as to how to research the marriage record would also be appreciated. What little I've been able to research about Maryland marriages concerning Surbers hasn't turned up anything.
