    3. Hi-- I don't have your original letter in from of me to know the state & county your ancestors were in in 1850. However, have you checked deeds where they may have purchased land where you found them? Sometimes a deed will mention "George Brinker of (name of the county he is moving from)". Also, don't put your faith in the list of state born. I had an ancestor who say he was born in TN in one census, and VA in another census!!! Have you checked him in the census indexes for several states in 1840? The surrounding state census indexes would be a place to start. I don't know where you are writing from, so I don't know what is available to you. Good luck!!!!!
