    3. The reference to Washington Co. TN led me to look at a reference: Tennesseans before 1800: Washington Co. by Marjorie Hood Fischer, Frontier Press Galveston, 1996. This book is an index to several rolls of microfilm which contain all the records for "Washington County" before 1800. Washington County NC was the name given to eastern TN before NC ceded this area to the Federal Government. TN became a state in 1796. Subsequent county formation greatly reduced the size of what is now Washington Co. There are quite a number of references in this book to John Hunter and other Hunters, but as the book is solely an index, it is hard to say what kind of information will be available. Sometimes the references merely indicate that so-and-so served on a jury or grand jury. I did, however, have the good fortune to find a refence that fixed the death date of my 5th GGF, a nice piece of info. Recommend that you pursue the references in this book.
