My ancestor Richard Mendenhall was born near present-day Martinsburg, Berkeley Co., VA, in 1737. That was the year before formation of Old Frederick Co., VA. Frederick Co. was formed from Orange Co., VA, in 1738, so I show Orange Co., VA, for his birth. I do not know if there are extant records for that area in the earliest times. My birth information came from Quaker records which were kept later in North Carolina where the family moved about 1750/51. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Wally Garchow, Sacramento, CA wally@calweb.com listowner: CCHelper-L@rootsweb.com http://www.rootsweb.com/~cchelper listowner: PITSENBARGER-L@rootsweb.com http://www.calweb.com/~wally/darke/w-pits1.htm Web pages indexed at: http://www.calweb.com/~wally/index.html Geographic Interests: Darke, OH; Huntingdon, PA; Baltimore, MD Surname Interests: COUPLAND, FRY, GARCHOW, GOSHORN, PEARSON, PITSENBARGER, MENDENHALL, SLADE, YORK
