    3. Valentine, I know of no published genealogy on Governor James Wood's (1741-1813) family. Gov. Wood married Jean Moncure and they left no descendants. The father of the Governor (and Revolutionary War General) was Col. James Wood the founder of Winchester and first Clerk of Court for Frederick County. Some genealogical information on the Wood family was published in 1926 by Katherine Glass Greene in her book "Winchester, Virginia and its Beginnings, 1743-1814," on pages 362-382. She cites Col. Wood's "Journal" as the source, which is believed to have been the same book that may be called Col. James Wood's Fee Book. Also, Mrs. Greene published the "Fees Belonging to James Wood, ANNO. DOM. 1744," which is a list of some of the first settlers in Old Frederick County. She published Fee schedules for three other years--Chapter XXVII, a total of 14 pages. You mentioned the Robert White family. You might be interested in knowing that a section on the White family is presented in my book, Frederick County, Virginia: Settlement and Some First Families of Back Creek Valley, 1730-1830.
