I looking for more information on a boat explosion on the Ohio River between Pittsburgh and New Orleans. It suposse to happen bewtween 1830 and 1849. This is what been handed down through the family. That Phillip McDermott was on a boat coming home to see his wife and 2 small children (b 1828 & 1838 they mother lied on the census her age and her children age, she only aged 9 years in 20 years), on the Ohio River. They lived in Berkely Co. Va. Martinsburg. I checked with the Va. Mariner Museumn, they said try to find place that dealt with the Ohio River history. Any help would be greatly be appricated.
