    1. [OLD-FREDERICK-CO-VA] Johnson/House Connection 1809
    2. Carolyn J. Burns
    3. Hoping there are some new people on the list that might recognize this information. I am trying to connect with anyone who has information about John and Dianah Johnson in the Little Cacapon area of Hampshire County. John Johnson's will was probated Dec 18, 1809 in Hampshire Co. It names "daughter Mary House, James Johnson and John Johnson, Jr." My ggg-grandfather was Joseph House Johnson, born in Hampshire Co, VA on Mar 12, 1785 and died in Montgomery Co, OH on Sep 26, 1834. Joseph married Mary Eve Stoker, daughter of John Stoker and Elizabeth Critton. For more information on the Johnson/Stoker/Critton lines in Hampshire Co, VA, go to my web site at http://www.carolynjburns.com If you have any information, please contact me. Thank you. 1. [OLD-FREDERICK-CO-VA] Who the Heck are You Hudson Family Reunion
    2. George Henry
    3. July 18, 2003 Re: Who the Heck are You Hudson Family Reunion Dear Family, We are trying to plan a family reunion for June 24th - 26th, 2004. The process is still in its rudimentary form as we need a complete list of relatives of Carrie and William Hudson. We thought it would be fun to have the reunion in Harriman, Tennessee, the origin of their branch of the family. A letter is being sent to all of their grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews for whom we have addresses. To aid us in contacting people, please send us the names and addresses of any family you can think of as quickly as possible. We are hoping by planning this a year in advance people can ask off from work to attend and we can reserve hotel rooms and a picnic site in Harriman. We would like to start the reunion on Thursday for those who are able to come early. There are many fun activities in the Smokey Mountain area. The reunion would culminate with a large family picnic in Harriman at the Roane County State Park on Saturday, June 26th (a minimal fee will be charged per person to cover food, beverages etc.) . We can begin reserving rooms as early as late September, early October so please contact: Joreen Hudson Henry, granddaughter, & George Henry GHenry01@earthlink.net If you don't know if you are related, hope you are related or just want to check, I'll send a list of known relatives upon request. If you know you are related, please indicate how in your response. Finally, please pass this to everyone you know who qualifies. Thank you! P.S. We are novices at this whole thing so any tips would be greatly appreciated. Reunion Information 1. I am: ____ interested ____ not interested in attending the Hudson family reunion. 2. Likely a sister or cousin to my gggg-father, John Thomas Robinson, b. abt 1812, found in Hapshire Co., then later moved to Harrison Co. abt. 1843 with adult sons Richard J. 3. Bless you !! Although I know the information you sent...at least you answered my query. Sometimes I wonder if any one reads queries. I have done quite a bit of research on Christian Sites & Elizabeth Reimel, back to a little in Baden-Wurtemberg in Germany (Johann Peter Seitz). It took me a long time to figure out the surname for Elizabeth, the wife of Christian Sites I am inclined to think the father of William B. Smith may have been David. Wm B and Christina Smith's oldest child , a son, was named David R. Smith. I think the R. was for his mothers maiden name which was Reimel. All the speculations we do to search for one hard fact! Thank you again Linda. 1. [OLD-FREDERICK-CO-VA] Smith Surname - 1750"s
    2. Phyll Davis
    3. ----- Original Message ----- From: Phyll Davis To: Old Frederick Co Co, VA Sent: Monday, July 28, 2003 5:05 PM Subject: Smith Surname - 1750"s I am new to the list. I am looking for information regarding Smith Families listed on the web site: http://www.rootsweb.com/~vafreder/fredbook.htm Frederick County Fee Book signed by the sheriff Meredith Helm, dated Jan 17, 1754.... Frederick County, VA, Col. James Wood's Fee Book, Anno Dom 1744: Name and # pounds of tobacco: Smith, John ...766 Smith, John the "blacksmith"...55 Smith, George Audley...61 Smith, John Jr...96 and Vance, David...155 Vance, Joseph...150 also: Female Heads of Households in 1753-1754, followed by assessment fee (tobacco) Smith, Margaret...105 pounds The largest assessments were: Smith, John...458 pounds Vance (the cooper)...449 pounds My reason for including the Vance family is this: I can document back to Rockingham Co, Va where William Smith married Christina Sites in 1812. A Vance man was surety for Wm on their marriage bond, and in others searches I have found Vance family members nearby. I am also looking for a David Smith in the same time period as the Frederick Co, VA Smith's. I am certain we all agree that certain surnames are difficult to research and Smith is one of them I NEED YOUR HELP, no matter how slight a clue it could be. I am a direct Smith descendant and I live in Arizona. Phylliss Smith Davis

    1. [OLD-FREDERICK-CO-VA] Marriage, Census, etc. for Robinson daughters in Noble Co., OH, late 1800s
    2. Christopher Robinson
    3. Does any one recognize these Robinsons or have any suggestion on researching these individuals? I have female Robinson women in my line that lived in Noble Co., OH. I do not have any info of them. I was wondering if there might be marriage announcements for them. I have names and ages: Theopholis, b. abt 1839, VA, Frances, b. abt. 1847, VA, Margaret, b. abt. 1849, VA, and Ellen, b. abt. 1857, OH. Their parents were Richard J. Robinson and Nancy (Hook) Robinson both of VA. Their brother, John W. Robinson, is my gg-father, but I would like to find info on these sisters and possible children. The family was in Harrison Co, VA in the 1850 census and reportedly moved to Noble around 1854 when they were all still young so they would have married in Noble. Theopolis is not in the household in the 1870 census likely marrying between 1860 and 1870. Ellen and Margaret are out of the household in the 1880 census, likely marrying between 1870 and 1880. Frances remains in the 1880 census, possibly marrying later or unwed. Also, if I remember correctly, my gg-father, John W. Robinson wed Olive B. Dilley on Dec. 24, 1877. I would greatly appreciate if you could check your newspaper articles for any wedding annoncements, etc. Please let me know if you have any other suggestions for finding info on these individuals. I guess a census 1890 and possibly later census lookup for Frances Robinson might also help. He was buried in the front yard of his home, along with some family members and slaves. There is supposed to be a military stone marking his graves. No other stones with names are supposed to be there. Later a cemetery was established about 1/2 half mile up the hill from the house. The first one that was buried in this was a son named William, who was killed in Cynthiana when Morgan made a raid through there in 1862. I have been to this cemetery, but have not been able as of yet to find the house or stone for Francis. Francis is my ggggrandfather. Hope this helps some. Nancy Bray

    2. Christopher Robinson
    3. Composed the following to a newly found related lister and thought I'd forward it on to the list if there are any more relations out there. I believe we are distantly related. I believe my John Robinson, b. 1738 was the older brother to your Benjamin Robinson, b. 1752, both were sons to William Robinson. I have not verified all this history yet, but do have my gggg-father, John Thomas Robinson in an 1840 Hampshire Co., VA census. Households for his sons: Beverly W. (male), John, William, Richard J. [My ggg-father], and Joseph also appear in this same census. I believe your Benjamin may appear here also. There are also an Alcy, Moses, and Thomas listed [I do not know these individuals and would appreciate any info on them]. Please check out this census at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~wvminera/18407.htm I believe My Richard Robinson married Nancy Hook in Hamshire and he and brother Joseph and their father John T. moved to Harrison Co., VA by 1843. The households of Richard and Joseph (with father John T.) are found in the 1850 Harrison Co., VA census. I have the Civil War Military Record for my gg-father, John W. Robinson (son of Richard J.) stating that he was born in Harrison Co., VA in Jan 1843. >From 1850 Harrison Co., VA census: 21st district, enumerated 29 July 1850 Ancestry Image 272 Roll M432_950, Page 135 Robert J. I have many names and fragments, but have not confirmed any relations yet. Also, I do not have any info on sisters to John W. Robinson. John W. relocated to Indianapolis, IN after 1870, then to Louisville, KY abt. 1879. I have a fairly good history on his children and other info to share if you are interested. I would greatly appreciate any additional info you may have on your Robinson line or any branches of related lines. 1. [OLD-FREDERICK-CO-VA] Re: [ROBINSON] Francis Robinson b. 1765 son of William Robinson & Agnes Smith- VA
    2. Christopher Robinson
    3. Farmer, Does your Francis Robinson have a brother John Robinson by any chance? I am descended from the Robinson line of John Thomas Robinson, b. VA abt. 1779, John T.'s father was also a John Robinson, b. 1738. His father was William Robinson, b. Middlesex Co., VA 1709. John Robinson married a Lucy Smith. Possibly a sister to your Agnes Smith. Look like a strong possibility that our Robinson line could be related. This may tie our Robinson lines to other postings I have seen lately for KY Robinson. By the way, my Robinson line eventually settled in Louisville, KY and I have recently relocated here. Thanks, Chris Please refer to exerpt below: There is a book titled "This Robinson Line" by Viola Robinson Long. On page 47 of this book indicates that there was a William Robinson born in Middlesex Co., VA in March 1709 , who married Agatha Beverly and had 9 children. The following is quoted directly from this book: "Issue of William and Agatha Beverly Robinson: 8.1 John b. 1738, eldest son, M. 1st a Miss Page;m. 2nd (mg. bond dated 24 Nov 1757) to Lucy Smith had two sons who went to Tennessee ca 1800. A third son John Thomas m. Elizabeth Emerson and had issue: Beverly W., Arthur, Samuel, William, Richard, John, and Joseph Lewis. The latter was the father of Mr. P. M. Robinson, Vice Pres. of Union National Bank of Clarksburg, West Virginia :" >From: "Robinson" <robinson@svs.net> >To: ROBINSON-L@rootsweb.com >Subject: [ROBINSON] Francis Robinson b. 1765 son of William Robinson & >Agnes Smith- VA >Date: Sun, 20 Jul 2003 21:32:17 -0500 > > This Francis Robinson married "Polly Terrill and went to Kentucky. 2. ldever
    3. Good evening all, Does anyone have a marriage index for Frederick County, Virginia? I am looking for a marriage of Catherine LITTLER to a man nmed JONES (maybe John Jones according to an LDS IGI) about 1765. She was a Quaker who was disowned for marrying contrary to discipline. Any help would be appreciated. Lynn Dever ldever@ksni.net Researching Dever, Littler, Barr, Thornton and Sjurset Families Volunteer of Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness. 3. Thanks to all who replied to my request for the book: This Robinson Line. Several lister have asked that I share info on where to get this book, so I am post this to the list for all. Many listers suggested InterLibrary Loan, which I have used in the past for other titles and will try again. A couple also suggested the following individual: "Helen Nichols Murphy" <hewick@gvtech.net> I have contacted Helen in the past and sent her two emails this past week, but have not received a response. Just wanted to check that I still have the correct email. I guess she could be away or just behind with email but would appreciate any suggestions. I am also attaching two other suggestions that my help others with this book and also other Robinson info. Please check these out: If you go to www.google.com type in This Robinson Line 1468-1938 and look for this listing under Helen Battelson it tells you how to contact her for this book. (The above brings up about four sites with Robinson info.) Also got this: A google.com search turned up this other publication, which contains a copy of the book in question. (If you can't find a copy of the original, maybe this one will do, if you can find it.) The Robinson Line from colonial Virginia to Mercury, McCulloch County, Texas. Kirby, Jack H. Self published (1992) Includes copy of "This Robinson line" / E. Viola Robinson Long. ----------------- Also, there are two very old postings (1996, 1998), in the archives of the ROBINSON-L rootsweb surname list, regarding copies of this book for sale.
