    1. [OLD-FREDERICK-CO-VA] SNODGRASS / FOULK / OLIVER
    2. Millie
    3. Is anyone researching the OLIVER or SNODGRASS or FOULK families? Charles SNODGRASS can be found in the following locations: Frederick Co., VA in 1770; Berkeley Co., WV in early 1770s; Monongalia Co. where he served in the militia in 1774; Fayette Co., PA in early 1780s; and Monongalia Co., WV late in 1780s. The second wife of Charles Snodgrass, Sr. was Barbara FOULK and it is believed that they married in the mid 1790s. The Foulk family owned the first pottery in Morgantown, WV. Barbara and Charles Snodgrass lived on Pharoah's Run (now outside of Rivesville, WV and near Fairmont). After Charles died in 1808, Barbara brought their five children - Hiram, Beniah, Eli, Margaret, and Joseph - to Washington Co., OH in 1812. Hiram Snodgrass, the s/o of Barbara and Charles Snodgrass, Sr., married Druzilla OLIVER in Washington Co., OH in 1819. Hiram died in 1879 and Druzilla moved to Comb, WV (Ritchie Co.) to live with her son David Snodgrass. Druzilla Oliver Snodgrass died on June 17, 1885 at the age of 93 years and is buried in Harmony Grove Cemetery (also called Douglas & Hornets' Nest). David Snodgrass (1828-1915), the son of Druzilla and Hiram Snodgrass, moved from Comb to St. Marys, WV where he is buried. Who were the parents of Druzilla OLIVER? Who were the wives of Jacob FOULK, Sr.? When (after 1805) did Jacob Foulk, Sr. die and where is he buried? Always seeking more information about the Charles SNODGRASS family. Millie

    1. [OLD-FREDERICK-CO-VA] ABRAHAM MILLER/MUELLER
    2. Does anyone have any information about ABRAHAM MILLER/MUELLER (1781 - 1852)? He is identified as born in VA in 1781 and died 1852 in Platte County, MO. He was married to Martha Virginia "Mary" Click (1784 - 1854(?). Click was anglicized from the original Gluck. (Per Carolyn Whitaker's Click research.) Some of the associated families were in Frederick County, VA late 1700's and early 1800's. Abraham is my gg grandfather. Thank you. Jean Alexander

    1. [OLD-FREDERICK-CO-VA] Will of Solomon Philips:wife Catherine probated in 1786
    2. Nancy Corder Halvorson
    3. Solomon and Catherine Philips had a dau named Catherine Philips when Solomon's will was probated in 1786 in Frederick County, VA. Their dau Catherine is the closest one I have found that might match up with the Catherine I am looking for. This Catherine P. may have been the Catherine P who m. Wm Corder in Shenandoah County, VA in 1809 Does anyone know anything about this family? Does anyone have any marriage bond and marriage record abstracts for Frederick County, VA. What about MD or PA, maybe even NC? Finding the maiden name for Solomon's wife Catherine, may support my theory that these Catherines are the same people. Thanks, Nancy Halvorson Santa Fe, NM

    2. I would check with the Berkeley County HIstorical Society re this book. They are located in Martinsburg, WV on RAce St Street, I think. They sell books. When I was there in Sept 2002, they had a whole bookcase full of Frederick County books. I have never seen so many in one place. Annie

    3. Millie, I was going though some old emails and came across this one of yours. I do not know if anyone answered you but try going to Google and put in Heritage Books Inc. in the search and see what you come up with on their website. 3. Hello, I too am new to the list but have been lurking around it for awhile. I am researching both George Leman (Lehman) whose daughter Hannah Lemon married my second great grandfather Levi Williams who was supposed to have been born in or near Winchester, Frederick Co, Va in about 1777. His parents names are at this time unknown to me but believed to have come from PA. The people in Ohio who knew him best also said he came from the Shenandoah Vallen of VA. Is that near Winchester? Thanks for your attention to this inquiry. Sincerely, Evelyn in Colorado evetamura@msn.com

    1. RE: [OLD-FREDERICK-CO-VA] KERNS NEW BOOK
    2. Wilmer L. Kerns
    3. Dear Chocy, To respond to your message: (1) I am not a descendant of RITTER/RUTTER. (2) I do not yet have a final copy of the index for the Hampshire County book. If I did, I would not volunteer to do lookups, as there are better uses for my time. (3) The announcement was made as a favor to inform members of the list; not for my gain (if you read the announcement, you saw my disclosure at the bottom). (4) No one has said officially that the index will be posted on a website; I was just giving my opinion that I would work toward that end. I promised that, if and when that happened, I would take time to inform the List of the URL. I'm trying to be accommodating, but there are limits as to what I can accomplish. Again, it is not a Kerns New Book, but an official publication of the Hampshire County 250th Anniversary Committee. Please re-read the announcement. This is my last response on this subject. Kerns -----Original Message----- From: Chocybrown@aol.com [mailto:Chocybrown@aol.com] Sent: Monday, December 22, 2003 5:34 PM To: OLD-FREDERICK-CO-VA-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [OLD-FREDERICK-CO-VA] KERNS NEW BOOK Wilmer, You were perfectly clear. Apparently, I was not. My apologizes; however, I see no reason NOT tell people, per request, if their surname is in the index. I know you have RITTER/RUTTERs in your family and could easily say yes or no to this question. No one expects you to DUMB all the surnames, only to respond to their particular request. I would think this would help to sell books which is what your intention is, I assume, by taking the time to post to ALL the lists the price and address where we could order the book. I, for one, would love to get my check in the mail immediately; however, I would like to know if RITTER/RUTTER is in the index of surnames. A simple yes or no is all that is needed. These lists are to share and that is all I was inquiring about-----------NOT dumping the whole index at one time on the site. Again, accept my apologizes if I have offended you, but this is the purpose of the list. 2. RonjoyT, I am sorry you think I am being mean. That is not my intention. Rootsweb policy is not to sell books on the list. This is NOT an issue with me; however, if he is going to use the lists to glean information and to advertise the book, he should be able to answer a simple request per request basis, that is what the list is set you to do. Sharing. Everyone on the list should do it, if they have the information. Best regards, Chocy
