    1. Seeking Orogin of George Peter BARR and BARRS of Frederick Co.
    2. Hello, I am seeking the ancestors and orogin of George Peter BARR, who according to Cartmell's History, appears in Frederick County in 1766, having removed from Louden County. In 1770, he settled on land adjoining Major Maxwell's grant. I am also interested in the other children he may have had, since I am decended from his third son Robert B. BARR who m. Arimenta AVERY. Their children were: James, John Hugh, (my ancestor), m. Elizabeth ARNOLD, Robert, William, Cornelius B., Ann, and Elizabeth. John Hugh's son Hugh, was my Great Grandfather. He m. Martha SAMPSELL and settled in Hardy Co. W.V.. Family lore has it that the progenitor of the BARR'S in the Winchester area came from Scotland. I am trying to find information and documents that will verify this. Many thanks to anyone who can help me. My E-Mail address is: BETWEH34@aol.com. Bettie Myers Wehland

    3. Rebecca, I have not maintained a database on Renner, although I have often seen the name, especially in southern Frederick County and present-day Shenandoah County. One of the Renners married into the Orndorff family, and I did some work on that family. My information is not assembled. Sorry that I don't have information that you are seeking. Wilmer L. Would you do me a favor and look at those original rolls for John B. Griffith and his wife Margaret ? John was b1795, d 1869 in Whitehall and died there. When I was at the Old Stone Church last year I found their names on an "honor roll" on the wall, "John B. Griffith, 1818," and below him "Maggie". They are not in the list of burials as published in the annual book I bought last year. Do they appear anywhere in your records? If you or anyone has information I would be grateful, as I have nothing on his ancestors. Thank you. Denny Griffith

    2. Hi Phyllis, Thanks for your enquirey into the Perrills. I really don't know a lot about them except the ones I have researched for awhile and seem to come to a dead end My JOHN PERRILL died ca 1837 in Berkley Co. WVA. He died intestate so the only thing I have is a copy of the sale bill. His daughter Elizabeth married my Ggrandfather THOMAS THORNBURG. I did have a little information given me by one of (we think) Johns descendents. There was my Elizabeth b. ca 1812 M. 13 Aug, 1829 , Mary w/m Dorsey Horner, Catherine w/m John Spitsnoggle in 1842 and Emily w/m Samuel Coonts 1840, and John Perrill w/m Mary Pitzer. Do any of these names sound familiar to you? I do have a family group sheet from a lady in East Berlin PA who ahs a SUSAN MARGARET but it doesn't have a date of birth. It is probably who you are looking for. If you can give me more details I will check for you. Stay in touch please...Them Perrills are very elusive. Thanks! Vivian

    3. Thanks for looking Meg. I have been up to The Old Stone Church many years ago. Have a copy of the originals rolls and copied most of the stones. There were many Dix there and believe there has been additional restoration since I was there. Hope I have not misconstrued the territory under Old-Fredrick-Co. The prime ancestor, Benjamin Dix is buried in KS but have never been able to get a handle on his parents or when he came into the Whitehall/Greenspring areea of VA. No one seems to have been able to pin that down in spite of the fact that there are distant relatives in the general area. Thanks anyway for your help.
