    2. In a message dated 97-09-19 15:14:19 EDT, you write: << Why the replacement? I bought mine at a FHC and am not sure when they got it. Is there a problem with the program. I don't use mine much, mostly for reports. I have FTM for data entry. Thanks in adavance for any info on this. >> I was called by the FHC and asked to put the notice up. There is a bug in it someway but they did not tell me what the bug was.

    3. Wilmer (and Michael Little), Thank you, Michael, for filling me in on the Little connections. The line I am following does come down through Adam Kern Jr.. I would appreciate a copy of your (Wilmer K-) article. I do have pages copied from a 63 page 1975 book by Bessie Kern Regal of Charles City, Iowa "Descendants of Adam Kern". I trust you have seen this. The line down is to Adam Kern Jr's daughter, Caroline Ann, who married James Frederick Shryock. James Frederick served in the Mexican war and under Gen Jubal A. Early in the "war of the '60s" and was killed by cannon shot northeast of Winchester 23 Sept 1864. By the transcription of her death record, Caroline died 17 March 1890 at "Paper Mill" This is the same location as given for the death of her brother, Nimrod KERNS, on 6 Oct 1896 (age 84). (any further information of this location?) I was to Winchester this last summer. There is a tombstone for Caroline (KERN) SHRYOCK near other family members in Mt Hebron Cemetery. According the above quoted History of Virginia article submitted by a descendant, James Frederick Shryock is also in the cemetery. The cemetery has no record of him. I went down to east of Kerntown to look for the tombstones for Adam and Caroline Kern. The area is highly developed and no sign of the cemetery. Rebecca Ebert of the Archives did some checking and found a local offical who had the information that they had all been moved to Mt Hebron. I have not checked this back with Mt. Hebron. Again, I appreciate any research you have done on the family and would like the copy of your article. I called their support phone number and they told me they were aware of the problem. They mailed me a free set of disks the same day. I don't know whether or not the DOS, WINDOWS, or IBM versions of the program had the same defect. If I was in your shoes, I would not bother getting replacement disks unless you are having problems with your program. If you still have questions, call the support phone number. Let me know if you can't find the phone number listed in the manual that came with the program. I hope this helps, Monte Buzzard <mbuzzard@fix.net>

    2. I know of a Groves family in Waynesboro, VA, Augusta County, whom are descendants of Augustus. You could post to that area. Two descendants of Augustus married into the Mize family. John Groves and his sister Virginia Groves Mize. Both John and Virginia have expired now. John has a daughter Joy Groves Shreves who lives in the Virginia Beach area and another daughter named Deane. I don't have any info on her. Virginia married Jacob T. Mize and had a daughter Donna. She married Thomas Culp. They have a son and I think they live in the Culpepper area. Maybe if you could contact them you could get more info. Cindy

    3. Michael When I saw your first post it caught my eye but this woke me up so to speak. In your Adam Little (Klein) family research have you come accross any of the girls names? On one line I'm working on I can trace back to Martinsburg, WV and/or old-Frederick Co. Va. I still have some proving to do but don't most of us. And alot of the oldest information I have came from"Genealogy of the Coffenberry Family" by B. Scott. A quote from the book "George Lewis Coffinberry was married December 5, 1786 at Martinburg, West Virginia to Miss Elizabeth (Klein) Little, who was born near Alsace Loraine about 1769. Elizabeth Little believed herself to be a descendant of royalty. Elizabeth had a brother that we know of." No name, nothing. Elizabeth Little Coffinberry died in 1858 in Ohio. Her Parents were surpose to be George (KLein) Little and Elizabeth Truggat both born near Strasburg, Alsace, Germany. Also Coffinberry can and was spelled many way of course. One of the older ways I've found is Kaufenbaeger. Does this Little (Klein) family tie into your research anyplace? Willing to share what I have. 3. Three of the sons of my ancestor Adam Little (Klein) married the daughters of Michael Ritenour of Frederick County, VA. 1.) My g-g-g grandfather John Little married Elizabeth Ritenour 06 Mar 1806 2.) John's brother Martin married Sarah Ritenour 17 Jun 1819 3.) John's brother Jacob married Polly Ritenour 31 Dec 1808. I have tons of information on these lines. These sons of Adam Little started migrating to Greene County, Ohio after Adam's death in 1812. They were followed also by a whole lot of Ritenours.I have info on these also. I recently received another bit of information from another researcher , which conflicts with my information. I was told that Michael's (Ritenour) wife Catherine was Adam Little's daughter Catherine,,but I have some credible documentation that Catherine Little, daughter of Adam, married Isaac Oldacre of Frederick County. If Michael's wife Carherine was a Little, then it was probably another Catherine Little. But we will have to study that some more, I think. I would like to have the article on the Kern family and the others as well. I will be happy to send what I have to all who would like it. I will send my snail address in separate post to avoid giving it out to spammers and junk mailers who lurk on the internet :) Michael Little Wilmer L.
