    3. Probably wantow or something like it. I don't think I've ever seen this word written in any 'official' way and so don't know how to spell it myself in 'modern' English. It is another word for belly band, the strap that ties the saddle to the horse.     3. Just thought. Another word, more modern, for this is girth. This will sometimes appear written in inventories as garth but the context should tell you whether it concerns 'horse funiture' or something else.
