Hm strange reply all, thought I'd posted this to all but I was wrong, here it is again:- I know of three race courses in Manchester, actually two of them were in Salford, Kersal vale and a later that was lost to the extension of Manchester docks around 1900 though technically in Salford. A third in Kirkmanshulme that was never actually in Manchester. None could be described as being even remotely close to Manchester Cathedral, or even the Manchester parish church.     3. I got both of these so think you did. Audrey I have feeling that soon Judith will put a stop to this string of communications because it's not much to do with Old English as such.
