Georgette's daughter Josie Metzinger and her husband Alawrence Alonzo Metzinger lived there as well. Their daughter Grace Metzinger was born 28 November 1894 at the homestead. They moved to Nebraska after Grace was born. I have searched for homestead records but haven't found any yet.

Also looking for marriage info on my grandparents, CYNTHIA LOUVISA CONNER & WILLIAM HENRY BECKNER, who owned land adjacent to Jefferson Conner. My grandparents were homesteaders. Jefferson Conner and his daughter Cynthia had been living in Canadian County from 1877 until they arrived in Woods County. The patent on the Beckner land is dated February 1901. How long did it take for a homesteader to obtain a patent?

Census. She is listed as adopted with a family named FORD. The wife's name was Elizabeth and the husbands was illegeable. Her father was Eugene Raymond COLE listed with a son Lenard in the same Census as boarders in town. I am going to try to find the adoption papers as well as a possible marriage for her. Eugene marriade and was divorced by the next Census as his ex was listed in Neb. as divorced. I do not know what happened to him.     3. Diane, I own the "Woods County Oklahoma Rural Cemeteries." I looked in the book but found no-one with the name of Chance. FYI ....My book doesn't cover cemeteries in Alva, Waynoka or Freedom. So, there is a "Chance" your relative is buried in Woods County even though my book doesn't cover it.
