Dicks, Bartlesville residents died within two days of each other due to lengthy illnesses, fulfilling their wedding vows of "till death do us part". Mrs. Carol Ruth (Fuqua) Dicks, 68, died at 8:45 p.m. on Thursday, April 24th. and James Herbert Dicks, 73, died at 1:55 p.m. on Saturday, April 26th. at their Bartlesville home with their immediate family close by. Mrs. Carol Ruth Dicks and James Herbert Dicks will lie in state in the Drawing Rooms of the Arnold Moore Funeral Residence where friends may call on Monday and Tuesday. Funeral services for James and Carol Dicks will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday in the sanctuary of the Tuxedo Assembly of God Church. Officiating pastors will be Rev. Charles McKnight, Rev. Brett Luallen and Rev. Alfred Haymaker. The funeral cortege will drive overland to Seminole, Oklahoma where committal prayers and final rites will be directed in the Maple Grove Cemetry by the Arnold Moore Funeral Service. Carol Ruth (Fuqua) Dicks was a native of Arkansas and moved to Oklahoma early in life to complete her education. James and Carol were united in marriage August 29, 1952 in Seminole, Oklahoma. Carol's life was selflessly devoted to rearing her children and caring for her family. Her church life and relationship with God was her cornerstone from which she received her stength and caring nature. Carol had many gifts in which she ministerd to others which was made evident by the love and care she received during her illness. James Herbert Dicks was a native of Oklahoma where he was reared and in turn reared his family. A testament to his life and character could be seen in the fact that during his entire education and 39 years with Southwestern Bell, James never missed a day. He was admired by his employers and co-workers for his hard work and fairness with others. His devotion to his work came second only to his devotion to his family where he is remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He is highly respected by all as a true man of God. This was made manifest in the unconditional love he shared toward others. James and Carol retired to Lake Eufaula in 1990 and lived there until moving to Bartlesville in 2000 to live in retirement. Surviving are their two daughters and their husbands, Ben and Marsha Whitehead, Waco, Texas, Dean and Joy Cook, Bartlesville; five grandchildren, Aaron and wife, Ronna Whitehead, Kristy Whitehead, Daniel Shearer, Justin Shearer and Thomas Cook; two great grandchildren, Amber and Autumn Whitehead; Carol's brother, Leonard Ray and wife, Billie Jean "B.J." Fuqua, Arlington, Texas, her sister, Mrs. Alice Marie Poplin, Carrollton, Texas. Preceding in their deaths were both parents, Lee John and Eunice Jewel (Morris) Fuqua and Walter Herbert and Edna Mildred (Mabes) Dicks; his sister, Mrs. Dorothy "Dotty" Guyer and her brother, Eddie Fuqua.

Funeral services for Mrs. Burton were held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at the graveside in the Ethel Reece Cemetery, Barnsdall, Okla. The Rev. M. E. Anthony, Jr. was the officiant. Committal prayers and interment were directed by The Arnold Moore -Barnsdall Funeral Home. Bessie Mae Collins was born on March 14, 1910 in West Plains, Missouri. She was the daughter of the late Jefferson and Nancy Elizabeth (Raby) Collins. During her youth, she came to Bigheart, Okla. where she was reared and received her education. She and Huskal Dean "Huck" Swift were married in Tulsa, Okla. in 1929 and they made their home in Barnsdall. Mr. Swift was an employee of Frank Phillips and was a cattle foreman. When Woolaroc was founded, Mr. Swift continued his association with Mr. Phillips. He was retired in 1974 and he preceded her in death on December 10, 1975 in Bartlesville. She and William Andrew "Andy" Burton were married on June 7, 1965 at Pawhuska, Okla. and they made their home in Barnsdall, Okla. Mr. Burton preceded her in death on June 29, 1996 in Barnsdall and since that time, Mrs. Burton has continued living in Barnsdall in retirement. She was a member of the Barnsdall, Free Will Baptist Church and attended the House of Prayer. Surviving are her two daughters, Mrs. Imadean Barrett, Arlington, Texas and Ms. Peggy Swift, Barnsdall, Okla.; four sons, Jimmy Arthur Swift, and wife, Ella, Jack Wesley Swift, and wife, Janice, Lloyd Eugene Swift and wife, Judy, and Eddie Lee "Ed" Swift and wife, Alice, all of Barnsdall, Okla. ; 18 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren and 27 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her father, mother and her husband, she was preceded in death by four daughters, Mrs. Betty Henshall, Mrs. Margie Reeb, Mrs. Maxine Long and Mrs. Carol Parker; four grandchildren; a great grandchild; a brother, Ira Collins and two sisters, Mrs. Lavada Allison and Mrs. Stella Jane Herrin.

He was married to Nancy Armstrong on June 5, 1976 in Bartlesville and they have made their home here since that time. He loved the outdoors, fishing and hunting. Mr. Miller is survived by his wife, Nancy Miller of the home, two sons, Russell Wayne Miller Jr., of Adair, Okla., and Michael Stephen Miller of Bartlesville, one brother, Robert Eugene Miller of Ochelata, several brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws, and several nieces, nephews, aunts , and uncles, and a great nephew, Chandler Joseph Eulitt. He was preceded in death by his parents and his grandparents.

Marguerite began her teaching career in Fargo, Okla., very early in life, and continued her teaching career while earning her teacher's degree in Weatherford, Okla. She completed her education in 1932 and she married Collins P. "Plowboy" Edwards in Hobart, Okla., on June 29, 1934, and moved to McAlester in 1943. She had a teaching career for over 50 years, 25 of those years were spent teaching at Edmond Doyle Elementary School in McAlester. She was an active member for 60 years at the First Baptist Church of McAlester and served as a Sunday school teacher in several departments. She was also the Sunday School director of the Senior Adult Department and a member of the Church Choir for many years. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 149 for over 50 years, a member of the D.A.R. (Daughters of American Revolution) and a member of the Oklahoma Retired Teachers organization. Marguerite Edwards was a friend and mentor to many students and young teachers who learned under her teaching. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Joe H. and Linda Edwards of Bartlesville; a grandson, Wade Collins Edwards of Oxnard, Calif.; a sister, Mollie Lee Beresford and family of Denver, Colo.; five nieces and nephews, Virginia Lee Beresford and family of Denver, Colo., Lillian Taylor and family of Ponca City, Okla., Joann Smith and family of Tulsa, Brosha Gattenby of McAlester, Darrieux Morgan of Rock Hill, S.C., and Denver Edwards of Hobart, Okla.; five grand-nephews and one grand-niece; a sister-in-law, Opal Edwards, of Hobart, Okla.; two cousins, Donald Bowles and family of Dallas, Texas, and Loyd Bowles and family of Dallas, Texas; and a host of friends and acquaintances. One of his greatest honors came when he and his wife Thelma received the Spirit Award from the Broken Arrow Wrestling Team. Some of his greatest joys were participating in sports and riding motorcycles with his many friends. Bill had a great love for life and will be missed by his family and friends. Mrs. Clark was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Bartlesville where she taught Sunday School. One of the highlights of her life was a trip to the Holy Land at the age of 83. Her love of flowers, gardening and fishing brought her many hours of joy and contentment. She was a blessing to many and greatly loved! He and Miss Arlene Gertrude Seeliger were married in 1947 at Brockton, Massachusetts and they made their home there. She preceded him in death. Mr. Nute was employed by Massachusetts General Hospital as an orderly and later worked for the Boston Sand and Gravel Yard. Mr. Nute began working in the construction and refurbishing of homes and was a licensed Union Carpenter, Local 1464. He and the former! Mrs. Barbara (Tweedy) Palmer were married at Taunton, Mass. in 1963 and they made their home at East Bridgewater, Mass. Mr. Nute continued his trade until he was retired in l984. They had celebrated their 25th. Wedding Anniversary in l988 and she preceded him in death in l989. During his retirement he was employed by the East Bridgewater Public Library as custodian. He remained there until 2001 when he came to Bartlesville to live near his family. Mr. Nute was a member of the Union Congregatinal Church at East Bridgewater, Massachusetts. She continued her education at Miltonville Christian College in Miltonville, Kansas (which is now Oklahoma Wesleyan University). She and Perry E. Dietrich were united in marriage on October 6, 1915 at Miltonville, Kansas. They made their home at Lincoln, Nebraska while Mr. Dietrich completed his education they moved to Oklahoma City. Mrs. Dietrich was an active member of the St. Luke's Methodist church, Couples Class, past President of the Mother's Club of Gamma Phi Beta, held several offices in Sororsis Department Club, past President of Tau Nu Study Club and a member of the Mr. and Mrs. Garden Club. Mr. Dietrich preceded her in death in November of l980. She came to Bartlesville in 1995 to make her home near her family members. Survivors include her daughter, Mrs. Floreine J. He grew up in Chautauqua County attending elementary school in Sedan, Longton and Elgin, and graduating from Sedan High School in 1952. In November 1952 he joined the U.S. Navy serving until his discharge in October 1956. On February 22, 1955 he married A'Meta Rutledge in Sedan. Following their marriage and his discharge from the Navy they made their home in the Sedan area. Mr. Dilley was employed at Phillips Petroleum Company in Bartlesville for 31 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Sedan. Mr. Dilley was a pilot and enjoyed flying. Survivors include his wife, A'Meta of the home, two daughters Jacqueline Dilley of Lawrence, KS and Rhonda Lampson of Sedan; one son William F. Dilley of Bartlesville, OK; one brother, Don Dilley of Peru, and three grandchildren, Katie and Betsy Lampson of Sedan and Gary Dilley of Bartlesville, OK.
