    3. Jacklyn - I may have a WELLS connection in Bartlesville, too. My great-sunt Jocie married Marion D WELLS in 1910 - I'm not sure where, but her sister was married in Bartlesville in 1906 - possibly Jocie & Marion were married there, too. Marion WELLS was born in Kentucky in 1885; his mother's maiden name was listed as 'WADERFOR', but could possibly be misspelled....would you suppose it could actually be Vanderford? That would be a curious coincidence... I haven't researched Marion much, since he's an in-law - let me know what you think... 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Hodshire, Marion, Morrison, Montgomery Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/FZB.2ACE/739 Message Board Post: Seeking the fate of James Victor Hodshire, last known to be living in Bartlesville OK in 1930 at the age 36. He was born circa 1894 in Indiana (probably Jasper Co.), the son of John C. and Lethe E. (Marion) Hodshire. He was married first to Blanche C. Morrison in Indiana. One child was born to this union: James Robert Hodshire, on 9-12-1919 in Russiaville, Howard Co. IN (died 4-9-1997in Amarillo, Potter Co. TX) . James and Blanche were divorced (or at least seperated) by the time of the 1920 census when he is found living alone in Bartlesville and she is living with her father in Howard Co. IN with son James Robert. The elder James married a Sarah Montgomery by 1924 when the first of two daughters were born to this union: Mary E. Hodshire in 1924 and Adalaide Hodshire on 12-29-1927 in Hutchinson Co. TX. Both daughters apparently died by 1997, as their half-brother's obituary doesn't mention them but does mentioned another half-brother from his mother's second marriage. By the time of the 1930 census, all four of the family - James, Sarah, Mary and Adalaide - are living in Bartlesville. Any info would be appreciated.

Signatures of Witnesses- William N. Riley and Albert May Subscribed and sworn to before me this 20th day of May 1907. Signed: Ella Coleman, Notary Public November 15, 1907 Lucy Werther Nowata, Indian Territory Madam: You have on file in this office application no. 1166 in which you claim Indian blood through your father, Jim Jones, or Young Pig. The name of Jim Jones (or Young Pig) does not appear upon the roll of 1851. Will you kindly give me both the English and Indian name of your grandfather and grandmother? Any other information you may be able to give will greatly aid this office. An early reply will be appreciated. Very Respectfully, W. A. Chase, Attorney at Law Nowata, Indian Territory December 5, 1907 Mr. Guion Miller 601 Ouray Building Washington, DC Dear Sir: I am in request of your communication of date November 15, 1907, asking for information in regard to my grandfather and grandmother, as to their names etc. I have traced this matter up as well as I can, but have had very little success as most of the parties that should know my grandparents are either dead or removed from the country. The best information that I can get is that Jones Pig's mother belonged to the Tin Cup family, and I think that this was really her name. It seems also that the father of Jones Pig also went under the name of Jones Pig. The identical Jones Pig (or Young Pig or Jim Jones) what I am claiming under was in the Civil War and was discharged. He was in Company H, 2nd Indiana Regiment of Ind. and home Guard. If you will take the trouble to look up these rolls you will find his name there. The information is that he was the only 'Pig' in that company. Trusting that this will be sufficient information in this matter, and that you will soon be able to determine this in my favor, I beg to remain. Yours truly, Lucy Werther Nowata, Oklahoma March 19, 1909 Mr. Guion Miller, Special Agent for Eastern Cherokees Washington, DC Dear Sir I believe that I will soon be able to furnish some additional testimony in my case (case no. 1166) that will be of advantage to me. As soon as I obtain this information, and if of sufficient importance to justify, I will forward it to your at once. Please withhold decision in my case for a short time at least. Very Respectfully Yours, Lucy Werther Misc. Test. P.- G W. Werther, being duly sworn, deposes and says: G.W. Werther is my name. My age is (?). I am the husband of the applicant, Lucy Werther. I think my wife is about 46 years old. I live in Nowata County. She has been in this country 26 years. She was born and raised in Delaware District. My wife was enrolled. She was enrolled by the Dawes Commission Cherokee Roll # 10890. She got both bread and strip money. She was enrolled in 1880. She claims through her father. His name was Jim Jones. He lived in Delaware District. I suppose her father and mother were married. I do not know whether Jim Jones was ever enrolled or not. His Indian name was Jones Pig. I don't know whether or not he lived in any other District. I don't know whether he ever associated with any other tribe. I think they were registered as Old Settlers, from what Jim Tincup, her cousin, told me. I don't know her father's mother's name. I have heard it but cannot recall it. One of his brother's was Run-about-pig. Never drew any money as Old Settlers. I don't believ! e her father had any sisters. I don't know any of her grandparents. I know of nothing else that would be of any help to her case. Signed: G. W. Werther Subscribed and sworn to before me at Nowata, Oklahoma this 26th day of August 1908. Misc. Test. P.- Lucy Werther being first duly sworn, deposes and says: I am 43 years of age. I was born and raised in Delaware District. I am enrolled by the Dawes Commission and got land. My number is 10890. I got the bread and strip payment. I did not get the Old Settlers payment. Didn't try. My mother's name was Barbara Jones. She has been dead some 26 or 28 years ago. Barbara Jones was a white woman. Jim Jones was the name of my father. He lived in Delaware District. He was also known by the name of Jones Pig. Young Pig was the name of one of my uncles on my father's side. I don't Jim Jones' mother. His father was named Stone and he was a white man. My parents were married and lived together. Runabout was the name for Young Pig and he was sometimes known by that name. Jim Youngpig was also a name by which my father went. My father had a sister named Lucy. Don't know her last name. I don't know the name of my grandmother, the mother of Jim Jones. These people don't know anything about their ancestry (OS Group # 178, page 75)*this notation is added to the end of the testimony of Lucy Werther. I believe it was from Guion Miller, not from Lucy, no doubt. Old Settlers # 178-Illinois District is for Pig Smith, father of Red Bird Smith. I'm not sure if there is a family connection here at all with the Red Bird Smith family. Lucy Werther Subscribed and sworn to before me at Nowata, Oklahoma this 15th day of March 1909. *Transcriber notes Transcribed by Catherine Widener, 2003 Lucy Werther listed as ½ Cherokee 1880 Cherokee Census # 1538-Cooweescoowee District as Lucy Jones-16 yrs. He lived in Tulsa Co., at the time but there is no record of him marrying there. The only other place which he lived in OK was Bartlesville. If there is no record in Bartlesville of their marriage, I just won't know Isabel's last name. she states she is born in OK but parents are from NC. This is all I know. Thank you.
