Or maybe a probate or will index. I do know that she is Indian and her husband name was Red Carpenter. Mary's maiden was Daughtery. Charlotte

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Lowe, Custer, Brake Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/FZB.2ACE/796.1.1 Message Board Post: Thank you very much for the info because with it I was able to come up with Custer as the last name for John‘s wife. Sometimes I get so focused on my research I miss the obvious. I have a copy of the 1930 census for John Lowe but totally missed the step son entry. Through the step son I was able to locate a 1920 census for Bartlesville Twp, Washington County, Oklahoma and it shows a William T. Brake married to Elda with one son Emory. The ages match up and then lucky me there is a brother in law with the last name of Custer which is most likely Alta/Elda’s last name. But at the same time a new problem develops. I reviewed the Draft Card and in 1917 John has a wife and 1 child (pre 1920) but it obviously cannot be Alta/Elda because in 1920 after the Draft Card entry she is married to William Brake. Then in the 1930 census John and Alta show 2 children James b. 1924 and Jennie b. 1927 (post 1920) so neither of them are probably the one referred to in th! e Draft Card so it looks like I’m looking at a second wife and now I’ve got to find the first wife. In 1920 the census for Scipio Twp, Pittsburg County, Oklahoma I found John’s employer, Albilson Allford, identified in the draft card but of course John is not present. Again many thanks because I now have many leads to track down and a lot of research ahead of me.

Surnames: Johnson, Evans Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/FZB.2ACE/798 Message Board Post: I am looking for an obituary for Eleanor M. Johnson who died 3-4-1887 & is buried in Stokes Cemetery. I found an Eleano M. Johnson in Ruby Cranor's Talking Tombstones which I believe is a typo for Eleanor. I think she is Sarah Carolyn Johnson Evans' mother as Sarah is buried not very far from her. Sarah was the wife of the Rev. Wm. Perry Evans a Methodist circuit rider that helped found the Methodist church in Ochelata. Sarah's obit does not list either of her parents' names, but in 1870 her mom, Melissa is living with Sarah & William et al. Sarah & William also have a dtr. named Eleanor-I think she was named after Sarah's mother. I would appreciate it if someone could see if the area papers were even in print at this time- I know when Sarah died a few years later they were. Thanks, Annette in OKC

Surnames: Lowe, Brake Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/FZB.2ACE/796.1 Message Board Post: Alfred, I found John's WWI draft card online at ancestry.com It lists his full name as John Coleman Lowe age 24, his mailing address as of 6-5-1917 as Rt. D? 1 McAlester, OK. DOB 9-11-1893 in Monroe, OK. He is farming for Wilson Allford in East Scipio (4 miles). He is married with a wife & one child. Medium ht. & build, blue eyes, & light hair. On the 1930 census for Jackson Twp. he has a stepson named Emory S. Brake-have you looked for a Mrs. Alta Brake? I think Emory died in Bartlesville according to the SSDI. The Bartlesville Library has a death index of their own & if they could locate a date of death, they could probably find his obit which might list Alta's maiden name.

Surnames: Bozarth Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/FZB.2ACE/789.2 Message Board Post: Thanks to the wonderful Annette Foster, this family was located on the 1900 Census. While this does not answer anywhere near the total questions I have, it certainly helped with information. So, Thanks Annette!. 1900 Census Township 25, Cherokee Nation, Indian Territory Bozarth, L. B. Feb 1859 b. MO Bozarth, Mary J. May 1862 b. MO , Thomas April 1882 b. MO , Nathan Jan 1885 b. MO , Annie April 1887 b. MO , Gertie May 1890 b. MO , Burrel June 1892 b. Indian Territory , Hester H. Oct 1898 b. Indian Territory This shortens the year they came to Oklahoma from what I had posted origionally. They now had to have settled there sometime between 1890 and 1892. On the census, Mary states 9 children, only 7 living. Meaning the two missing children died prior to 1900. That lowers that window to look in as well. They had to have been born after Sept 1878, as that is when Larawood and Mary married. I'm still looking for any additional information on this family, and their descendants from Larawood and Mary's children. Thanks to everyone who has offered me help!
