    1. >ERROR<
    2. Mimi Alexander
    3. Hi List, Recently, while studying actual Census Record images for Vernon County, Missouri, and, Washington County, OK., at www.ancestry.com<http://www.ancestry.com/> I saw my people listed under their parents, and got all the data listed. The parents were listed on the Census as, "white", which of course, I already knew! Ancestry.com shows much of their own "transcribed" data before you actually click to see the, "actual", Census page, and it was their "transcribed", data page that showed a HUGE error..... Apparently whom ever transcribed the information typed in the wrong data! This is true!!! The family I was researching showed 5 children in the family. Each and every actual Census image from 1880 to 1920m showed all 5 children to be white, (under Race), yet when I pulled up the Washington County, OK., page for 1910, Ancestry transcribed in error that the youngest 2 children in the family were "Indian". That seemed strange.....? The reason I'm telling you fo! lks is because you need to be aware of the fact that human errors are indeed made by those persons, (unintentionally of course), who transcribe data from actual legal documents. Double check what you're reading, check it out against the "actual" records and make certain you're getting the correct information. Not only did they incorrectly transcribe the RACE of the two youngest children, they also transcribed, "place of birth", incorrectly. Accidents happen..... Thanks again to everyone who offered help on this mystery! Mimi Alexander

    1. Indian RECORDS ????
    2. Mimi Alexander
    3. Good Morning Washington Co., Anyone have information or me on how to attain records for those listed as 'Indian' on a U.S. Census record? The strangest thing has been uncovered and I do not understand how to proceed with this information! The ancestor I'm researching is shown on a Census with his wife, and children, all listed as "white" race. He was the father of 5 children all born between the years of, 1886 to 1899, and all in Missouri. This family moved from Vernon Co., MO to Washington Co., OK about 1907, where they're found in the census records in OK. What's so strange is......the last two children born are listed under the RACE column as...."Indian". How can that be? They all had the same mother, (Eliza A. Applegate ALEXANDER), and the same father, (SAMUEL ALEXANDER). Either the person taking the census information made an error, or something weird has occurred? Anyone out there have insight for me on this situation? The Census does not say what tribe of Indian either so I'm in t! he dark. How could the first 3 children born be "white race", and the last two born be "Indian race"? Thanks a bunch~ Mimi Alexander
