    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: Jeffrey_Elmer Surnames: BONHAM, PATCHIN, GERZETICH Classification: obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.oklahoma.counties.washington/1101/mb.ashx Message Board Post: The Goldendale Sentinel, Goldendale, WA., October 23, 1958, page 1 FOUL PLAY IN DEATH CASE INVESTIGATED The body of a man found in Locke Lake, three miles east of Bingen last Thursday morning, has been identified as that of Donald H. Bonham, 38, Dewey, Okla.. Sheriff E.C. Kaiser said Bonham, an army veteran of World War 2, will be buried in National Cemetery in Portland later this week. Police officials are continuing an investigation of possible foul play in the case. The dead man had seven fractured ribs on the bright side, a broken left leg just below the hip, a broken nose, head lacerations, an autopsy revealed. Internal bleeding also was noted, the sheriff reported. He was assisted in the investigation by Deputy George McCredy and T.W. Mitchell, acting county coroner. The body was first noted Thursday morning in the shallow waters along the shore by Tom Delaney, conductor on S.P and S. freight train. They notified Special Railway Agent Ed Karge at Wishram. Train cars which passed the place previous to the incident will be examined for signs of foul play, the sheriff stated. Doctors who performed the autopsy on Bonham's body opined that he may have drowned while unconscious; they could not determine if his injuries occurred before or after being thrown from a freight car. It is presumed that is how he entered the lake. FBI Records Checked Bonham, whose body was identified through FBI records in Washington, D.C., is survived by his ex-wife, Mrs. Gladys Gerzetich of Cheyenne, Wyo., and a son, Dale Lee, 16 or 17, also of Cheyenne. His mother, Mrs. R.E. Patchin of Dewey, Okla., also survive. Bonham was born in West Plains, Mo., August 24, 1920. He had made purchases at the Red Front Store in Portland the day before his death, police discovered. This was posted for reference only. I am not related to, nor am I researching this family. If you have additional information about the family or event mentioned above, please post it as a reply to this message. ********************** The Goldendale Sentinel, Goldendale, WA., October 30, 1958, page 7 VICTIM OF FALL BURIED TUESDAY Donald H. Bonham, Dewey, Okla., whose body was found in Locke Lake east of Bingen October 16, was interred Tuesday in the National cemetery in Portland. He was an Army veteran of World II. Sheriff E.C. Kaiser said Bonham's death had been presumed accidental, a result of tumbling out of an S.P. and S. Railway box car. Speed of the train at that point is 55 to 60 miles per hour, eliminating the possibility that Bonham was trying to get off the train voluntarily. Foul play has been ruled out in the case, all indications pointing to accidental death. This was posted for reference only. I am not related to, nor am I researching this family.
