I have heard for years from my parents about his house. You can imagine how much I enjoyed finally seeing a picture of it. My parents were always sorry they did not move the house to Bartlesville before the house was destroyed. The area was flooded when a damn was built. Charles and Jane Journeycake's graves had to be moved to Nowata. Thank you for sharing the photo. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Thomas should be there somewhere. I am not sure about Julia because she visited her children a lot. I found her in NE with John N. Smith in 1920 census and her son was a Nazarene Clergeman. She lived beside him and was a home missionary for the Nazarene Church. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. In 1900 they were a part of the Indian Territory. Did you find your Thomas Smith and family in the 1900 Census? If not, I have found them and learned something new at the same time. I could not find any funeral records or cemetery records or obituary records for Thomas or Julia Smith. I will be on the watch out for that info and if I find anything I will post what I find on the message board. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I need the cemetery for Thomas Smith born 1844 in AL and died between 1910 and 1920 in Washington Co., OK. His wife Julia Josephine (Brewer) Smith was born 1853 and died after 1930. I would also like to know if a person was in the 1900 Osage census, would that have been Washington Co., OK in 1910? Thanks for any help you can give. Rhodene, I have the 1996 revised edition of Talking Tombstones by Ruby Cranor & I didn't find Thomas or his wife listed. This book does not include White Rose Cemetery or Memorial Park Cemetery in Bartlesville, both of which are large cemeteries. The Bartlesville Public Library Local History Room did have a death index for Washington County, so they might be able to help. Are you looking for Thomas & his wife on the 1900 Osage Census or is it some other family? I am guessing you are looking for Osage County. Let me know if I can help with the census info. I work full time, but am off today. Annette MIKE FOSTER <aandmfoster@sbcglobal.net> wrote: Sorry, I guess the site changed. I am looking thru the book now. I am looking for photos of Jacob Dick-full blood Cherokee who sold part of his allotment to Tom Ellis who founded the town of Ochelata. I would also like a photo of Tom, & of Alex Hendricks-barber, real estate broker, & statesman. I am wanting to do a memorial tribute to my father-in-law Danny Foster at his store in Ochelata by doing a pictoral history of the town. Danny was the unofficial town historian & he collected hundreds of photos, but I have yet to find photos of the people listed above. If anyone has photos or info to contribute, please contact me. Sincerely, Annette Foster
