I was adopted out when I was 18 months old (back in 1956). I am trying to search for my birth parents. I have names but no SSN or Birthdates. I have my adoption paper but all it tells me is when it was done and where. (Tulsa) I have tried going through the SS office but they say I need a SSN to find the right person. I know my Dad worked at Sears in the mid 1950's I know they wasn't married when I was born and he was locked up somewhere when my birth mother gave me up for adoption. He came to see me after he was released and he hasn't been seen since. That would of been around 1956 or 57 I think. I have ran into a dead end with ever thing I have tried. Could you tell me what I need to do to obtain something to get SSN on these people. Even the hosp. where I was born won't help me. I seen your name on this web site and thought I would try you out for information. Thank you, Hope to hear from you.
