Gary Ave., a former hardware store operator, who died Wednesday of cancer in a Tulsa Hospital. She had been ill for 2 months. A Tulsan since the mid-1930's, she operated a hardware store at 1161 N. Utica for 13 years until becoming ill. A native of Iola, KS, she is a graduate of Bethany (Kansas) College, majoring in Art. She took graduate courses at Emporia and Pittsburg, KS before moving to Tulsa. She was a member of the Presbyterian faith. Survivors, a daughter, Barbara, of the home, a brother, Howard Wheaton (Montevideo, Uruguay) and sister, Shirley Novak, Nevada, Missouri. Traveled for Shell Oil Co. for 15 years, and was maintenance and supervisor for them. Later moved to Tulsa, where he went into business for himself.
