Don't forget the Charles Page Widow and Orphans Home in Sand Springs, which did adoptions also. It was operational into the 1920s, and early on it did accept 'widows' and women like my great-grandmother, who's husband had abandoned the family in 1911. Since she was ill and couldn't care properly for her children, she stayed there for awhile and then left her two young children there where they grew up.
