I live in Tulsa and volunteer at the Tulsa Historical Society and have had no luck so far in finding out much about this hospital. I know it was a 523 N Boulder Avenue and most likely took over the building that Morningside Hospital (521 N Boulder) was in when it moved over on to Utica. I also have been told that it was a Public Health place in the late 40's where people could get vaccine shots. The hospital was listed in the phone directories from 1925 until 1953. I am wondering where their hospital records might be.....? Nancy

I did a little research through the Tulsa Library system. Here is what they say........ In the book Hospitals in Oklahoma: A History, 1824-1990, there is little of bit information about the Flower Hospital. Flower Hospital (1926 - 1945) 523 N. Boulder Ave. A 32 bed, privately owned M.D. general hospital. (See Morningside Hospital an Tulsa General Osteopathic Hospital) Chief Executive Officer: Victoria Warren, R.N. (1927 - 1929) Morningside Hospital (1928 - 1939) 12th and Utica A 225 bed, privately owned M.D. general hospital built by Mr. and Mrs. M.J. McNulty, Jr. Closed as a result of bandruptcy in 1939. (See Hillcrest Medical Center) Tulsa General Hospital (1937 - 1943) 744 W. 9th A 16 bed, privately owned hospital. Hillcrest Medical Center (1940 - ) 1120 S. Utica A 596 bed, non-profit general hospital. In 1940, a group of citizens organized a non-profit corporation and acquired the Moningside Hospital property which was in receivership as a result of bankruptcy and was newly incorporated as Hillcrest Medical Center. In 1944, a 100 bed Hillcrest Lying In Hospital was opened at 12 and Troost. CEO's: Bryce Twitty (1940 - 1951); James D. Harvey (1951 - 1985), and John Goldthorpe (1985+). However, the Library has no information as to whereabouts of medical records.

We are in Ohio. Our Great Grandfather Henry Cupp relocated to the Tulsa area around the year 1905. That was the year our Grandmother Veronica Cupp was born. They lived there until about 1912 I think. I have a distant cousin by the name of Jennie Quirk who i found living in Tulsa, Oklahoma in the 1920 and 1930 censuses. She lives on her own and doesnt' appear that she ever married. I'd like to get her death certificate but without an online index I don't know of the date. She was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1862 but in the censuses she kept saying dates about 10 years later than that. Can anyone tell me how I can go about getting a death certificate out of Tulsa's vitals bureau even though I don't have an exact date? thank you much! -mike

I know it was there in 1941. I was told that there is a new hotel built on the old site where it stood. Holiday express is the name of the hotel. I didnt go to the court house while I was there. Carl Weldon Hoffman, my grandfather, owned the Tulsa Mirror & Glass in the 1930's and was partner in ACME Glass in 1954 and maybe some others. My great grandfather Charles James and his brother William Henry also owned companies. Does anyone know where I can find information on the old companies and maybe some family history?

Beckey Ann Goins married a David McGahey. They had five children and then David died around 1918 on an epidemic. Beckey re married a Wesley Shafer and died soon after the 1920 census. The children were all placed in an orpahnage in Sand Springs. My mom remebers going to Wesley Shafer's funeral abt 1942. Wesley was born abt 1853 in KS. Beckey was born abt Jul 1887 in NC and David was born abt 1874 in KS.
