I am trying to obtain an obit for Lennie Jewel THOMAS who died April 14, 1999 in OK. The SSDI shows Residence: McAlester, Pittsburg, OK, last benefit: same. Using a search engine for the name, I got limited info stating that an obit was published in the Tulsa World, Pub date 4-16-1999, Lennie Jewel Thomas, 91, maintenance supv, died Wed. Services 1pm Friday, Bishop Funeral Home Chapel. I tried an on-line archives search of the Tulsa World and got nothing. I tried locating a Bishop Funeral Home, and a town of Bishop, again nothing. Is anyone in OK familiar with Bishop Funeral Home - where it may be located - or can you help me check for the obit? I am open to suggestions on how to proceed on finding the obit or any info on Lennie or her family. She had one boy and four girls and hopefully some are still living. Thanks to anyone who can assist me. Donna (Thomas) Apodaca Riverside, CA

I am trying to find out about my father's sister. She died in the 1970s in a car accident while coming to visit my father in Lake Tahoe, CA. She was in the car with her husband who had business with the Ford Car Company, I believe his name was Condale Pollard (very unsure of this spelling). My aunt (my dad's sister) was Betty Pollard and her madin name was Walker. Would anyone who knows of Betty or her husband please email me and let me know the exact spelling of her husband's name. They lived in Bixby for many years and she was still a resident there until she died. Her husband later remarried and we have no knowledge of him after that, not that his remarriage was a bad thing - just that we lost touch. Any information would be appreciated very much. I believe Conrad may have died about 4 or 5 years ago, but we are unsure of that also. Thand you Darlene

<< Skiatook is in Osage County, not Tulsa. This may be why you didn't find your obit. Hope this helps. >> According to book, "Oklahoma Place Names," by George H. Shirk: SKIATOOK. On the county line between Tulsa and Osage counties, 13 miles north of Tulsa. Post office established March 12, 1880. Until April 11, 1892, the official spelling of the post office was Ski-a-took. Named for Skiatooka, a prominent Osage, the community around his home having been known as Skiatooka's Settlement. A life long resident of Tulsa County (born at Broken Arrow), the municipality of Skiatook has always been included in Tulsa County's government (sheriff, etc.). People in Skiatook were active in Tulsa County elections. I am looking at an "Oklahoma Atlas" and from Highway 11 at the East end of Main Street, it appears the larger portion of the town is in Tulsa County. There is a large funeral home on Highway 11 (Peters) that has been there "forever" and a direct contact with them may be better than an obituary search. Tulsa newspapers (now only the Tulsa World) usually carry obituaries from Skiatook. The Tulsa World is online (tulsaworld.com) but, much to my sorrow, they are now charging a subscription to read the obituaries and search their archives (back to late 1980s).
