Dear Janice, I have the Cumulative Index to Tulsa Funeral Home Records Volumes I - X Kathryn Hardesty Herbert, compiler, (Tulsa, OK: Tulsa Genealogical Society, 74101), and it lists a Rose Bell Wilcox as having been included in Volume 6, on page 45. There is no Ruth Hawk listed, but there are two persons named Samuel Hawk: HAWK, Samuel C. V7:115 HAWK, Samuel C., Jr. V8:76 There are also two listing for someone named Everett Wilcox: WILCOX, Everett Ewell V7:174 WILCOX, Everett Guy V6:175 The volumes indicated above are described in the front of the book: Volume 6 Whisenhunt's Funeral Home 1964-1980 Volume 7 Stanley's Funeral Home 1909-1962 Volume 8 Stanley's funeral Home 1963-1981 Winterringer Funeral Home 1906-1910 Coulter-Brown Funeral Home 1950-1967 If you will call the Tulsa Genealogical Society Library on a day when they are open (Mondays (but not tomorrow) & Saturdays 9am-5pm, Wednesday 1-5pm, 918/627-4224), you could ask the volunteer to check these volumes for you. The volumes are for sale, too, or you may wish to request photocopies. Visit our web site, www.tulsagenealogy.org and click on Research for information about our Society Researcher, who is a wonderful help to those outside the Tulsa area doing Tulsa area research. She could search city directories, obtain obituaries from the microfilm, visit the funeral home or cemetery, or help you with your copies. She works for donations. Also, if you click on Publications, you can learn more about the volumes for sale. You might consider joining our society, too. The new year begins 1 July 2002. The web site has membership information. Sincerely, Barbara Becker Meehan, CGRS, FTGS TGS Editor, Webmaster, and Past President PS. I have Wilcox ancestors, but not in the Tulsa area. The Creek Nation was a part of the Indian Territory census, not the Oklahoma Territory census. Be aware, too, that the northeastern part of Tulsa was in the Cherokee Nation. I would recommend that, if possible, you search for the household using the Soundex for 1900 Indian Territory, available on microfilm. Can someone please check the Tulsa City Directories (if you can find them) for Rose and Everett Wilcox, and Sam and Ruth Hawk from 1960 to 1965? I am trying to find out when Rose and Ruth died and maybe that will give me an idea. I would really appreciate any help with these two ladies. A check of city directories reveals a listing in 1927 for Zetta Wilson at 1901 Marshall Pl., but no listings after this year, so apparently she may have moved elsewhere. No listings for the name CARTANA in Tulsa, either. There is a listing for a Mr. William Cartana in Houston (now, in 2002). Go to infospace.com to get his mailing address and/or phone number and contact him to see if perhaps he might be related. You should also post this same search message on the Oklahoma City message board in case there is information about the Cartana's or the Wilson's there.

I do not have the time to devote right now to this. The information you have is correct--he did live here and die here, along with his wife, Leah, but more research is required. For a $35.00 fee (US POST OFFICE MONEY ORDER ONLY), I can get you the death certificate which would really give more information about surviving relatives, etc. and I would also be able to do the follow up research to find the family now so you could return the items to them. Would it be possible for someone to give a little background info as to the naming of Rudisill Library? Someone from out of state inquired about what family or person the library was named. I'm sorry to say, I don't know. Any info would be appreciated. M. Davidson [email protected]
Hi, My apologies if this is off-topic. I am trying to locate someone who moved to Tulsa/Broken Arrow area about two years back. I have tried the White Pages without success. He may be connected with the Rhema Bible Center but so far this center has not replied to previous quiries. Any pointers would be much appreciated. Kind regards, Brendan Jones.
