To all who wrote regarding the info on the 1890 Dist census - you're welcome! Some, who have ancestors in Sequoyah District whose surname begins with H through Z, have asked how to get the film: I rented the film through the Morman Church's Family History Center - it was film number 1666299 and entitled: Cherokee Nation census, Sequoyah District, 1890 Schedule. Please note that if you order the film from someone else, it will probably have a different number if microfilmed by someone other than the Morman Church. This film contained other Districts also - the Illinois, Saline, Sequoyah, and Tallaquah (partial). This census is very different from Federal census....this was written in alphabetical order, and lists the head of household, wife & children, their race, age and the rest is about crops and farming. I think that maybe the census was originally written on cards or something else, then rewritten at a later date in alphabetical order - and I liked it, because it does make it easier to find your ancestors! It looks like it was written in a large book.
