Sequoyah County Clerk has five large ledger type books which they recorded some birth and deaths. These occurred in Sequoyah County from Dec. 1908 to May 1917. Oklahoma didn't require death certificate submissions until 1925, and even then some deaths didn't get reported. On Dec 19, 1934, two brothers, Jim Copeland and William Ike Copeland, got into a gun battle. Ike was killed, and Jim lost an arm according to family stories. I was told that Jim was not convicted of the murder as the jury decided it was self defense. However, a cousin of mine says that he was told that Jim ended up in a mental hospital later in life because he was overcome with guilt. I don't know how true that is.
