Hi Jennifer, I just read your query inquiring about the Girty family.... My Girty line begins with my G grandmother Anna Barnett, who married Daniel R Girty, abt. 1887. Their son Dan Girty (jr) b. Jan 6, 1888 or 1889 Heavener, Indian Territory, OK. I do have other info for other marriages for these 2 Girty's if this sounds like it fits with your info. I would be happy to share this with you. There is no chance of acquiring a virus from the choctaw-web site; the virus --- which several people have said does not appear on their anti-virus scans, --could be a hoax or activated by replying to email or opening an attachment that says: "The Real Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" sent by SexNFun. If you see that delete it immediately without opening. Rusty Lang Click here: SITE MAP

I've been receiving these for about 3 weeks, but this was the first time I've been able to pinpoint where it was coming from - good thing email is slow today. See http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w95.hybris.gen.html for information on what to do and you will probably want to update your virus software and contact others that you email frequently, especially those that are new to computers. Posted on: Sequoyah County, OK Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ok/Sequoyah/779 Surname: Dunnigan ------------------------- Vian is ten miles west of Sallisaw in Sequoyah County. You might look for your family in the cemetery records of Sequoyah County. They have been published and can be found in most libraries in eastern Oklahoma. The names of the Cemeteries are listed at the Sequoyah County Genweb site, but the list of people buried in each cemetery is imcomplete. I looked for Dunnigans in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Vian and none were listed.
There is a Roy Walters buried in the Sallisaw Cemetery. He was born around 1920. Don't know if this helps any or not. Gloria

I have just begun the research on the WALTERS family. Hope someone can help me get started:) ABE WALTERS, I believe was a lawman in Nicut. I assume it was in the late 1800's. Can anyone give me a jumpstart with this family?
Vian is in Sequoyah County and you may check Roselawn cemetery there for your relatives. There was another cemetery there years ago. I was told in either 1920-30's there was terrible flooding and the cemetery in the bottoms washed out and some graves were lost.
Yes, Vian is in Sequoyah County.
