He was born Jan 1856, St. Joseph, MO The Smith family lived in Floyd, IA and moved in 1885, stopping in Topeka, KS on the way, where her father, HIRAM SMITH was appointed U.S. Territorial Marshall, 1886, and sent to "No Man's Land", Indian Territory, Beaver, OK. Three girls did not move to Beaver, OK, possibly marrying in Topeka.
