    1. Re: [OKROOTS] WW-2 Ration Books
    2. As I was only two or three years old during the times when rations were used, I cannot add to what each was used for, but I can share a story that my mother told over and over as I was growing up... We lived in Jackson County, Oklahoma...at Victory....and I was a very spindly toddler....(their first child)....and they were very concerned that I was not healthy....so they saved their gasoline rations...which I gathered from the way she used to tell the story....was a big sacrifice....to be able to take me to a pediatrican in Ok City.....after finally making the trip....the Dr. told my mother...."Oh..Mom...quit worrying .....just go home...and have another child...." My mother's outrage at such a comment...was the spark to tell this story of "sacrifice....and indignation" for many years.... By the way....he was right....after years of being very thin....I managed to fill out quite well!! ha ha..... and they did not take his advice...until Daddy was home after the War..several years later...
