How do you get into the searchable archives? In a message dated 4/4/00 7:36:15 AM, [email protected] writes: << I have to go along with Wylene here. I've been on a busy list in California where they have several volunteers who do a huge volume of look-ups -- there are days when there are easily over 75 messages. All responses to requests are posted to the list. This includes the first response from the volunteer who will do the look-up, then they post their look-up results, (usually) followed by a thank-you from the requester. List clutter? That's what I thought when I first signed up. Not at all. The first reply posted to the list is so that everyone knows someone has volunteered to do the look-up -- no duplication of effort. The look-up results are on list because there might be more than one person interested in the answer and that answer will be in the searchable archives. The thank you onlist probably isn't necessary, but some folks are a bit thoughtless. Seeing all those thank yous makes them remember to send one when they owe it. Now, the most important part of all this to this Oklahoma list is the part about searchable archives. If all the answers are off-list then someone who signs up a month or a year from now won't be able to get that answer. Think what a resource those archives could be and should be+ACE- This is a request to please post all answers to the list. Oh -- and good luck with your research, Elizabeth Richardson, Ketchikan, Alaska erich+AEA-ktn.net
