Here is yet another one of my "Dead Ends" for your perusal: Great Grandpa: Jesse Pickney BURNS. born 1879, somewhere in Texas. Mother: Lula J. (DAVIS) BURNS Lula J. Burns shows up in the 1880 Henderson county TX census in the home of her mother (apparently, she is listed as daugther, Jesse is listed as grandson) Minerva DAVIS. Both are check marked: widowed within the year. I would LOVE an 1880 Texas Mortality Schedule lookup on these two names. ( DAVIS and BURNS) Unfortunately the OHS does not have one. Family oral history says that Jesse's father (Lula's first husband) was decapitated in a train accident. Apparently, he was a brakeman on the train and as he was braking it went into a tunnel and chopped his head off. Nice story *cough* but who knows if it is true. Nalora
