Green, Journalist, Nov 30, 1937, p. 7 Dr. Cravens used to have a sawmill north of Doaksville and after he got his arm shot and had to have it amputated, he sold his mill and moved his family to the new town just east of the Kiamichi River on the A & C. Rail Road. They called the town Gilbert. Cravens was appointed Postmaster and had it named Miah, for one of his sons, Jeremiah. Then somebody named it Roby, later it was named Sawyer.
