New news on my family has led to me to the infamous Cookson Hills. So far I haven't found what I am looking for. Excerpt of a letter from a distant cousin says that Charles Lewis GREEN lived by the river (Illinois River) and he ate squirrel brains, ewww. Also referred to the Chase Outlaws. Names I have are: Ollie or Oli CHASE, Benjamin Franklin LAWSON, Andrew Lee "Uncle Lee" LAWSON (was killed in a poker game at Poker Bend), Olive "Ollie" LAWSON. Charles GREEN and Olive LAWSON were married and had a slew of children after leaving the Cookson Hills they moved to Claremore and then on to Bakersfield, CA. Anything familiar? Anyone know if there's a book on the history of the people that lived in Cookson Hills? I am looking for something that doesn't have to do with the Dalton Gang.
