    3. Hi Holly, I am trying to find a Williams family in Oklahoma during the same time period you mentioned, but don't expect to ever find them. My grandmother was Louisa Ella (Mollie) WILLIAMS b1876 TN or KY. She married my grandfather, James Wiley KING b1854 in OK I think. They were probably married in 1888-89 but I have not found a marriage and probably will not as they were likely married in Indian Territory. I have exhausted the possibilities there with what few records there are. Family history says that Mollie was at least half Cherokee and that her mother was a servant to a Williams family. She was born out of wedlock and her father's family raised her. I don't know what happened to her mother. For that matter I don't know what happened to any of her family as I don't have a clue as to who they are. None of the Williams families I have found in the area during that time period have seemed to have a connection. Just thought I would mention this since you are researching WILLIAMS in Oklahoma too. What I really wrote to ask is if the BROWN family you are researching was ever in GA. I have a couple of books that are about Cherokee and white families in the Eastern Cherokee lands of NC, GA and TN during and prior to the Removal. There are a lot of names and a great deal of information in these books--though it centers mostly on GA. I checked and found there were a lot of BROWNs--and a few Johns were mentioned. Bear in mind that these BROWNs were in many cases, whites men who intermarried with the Cherokee. If you think your BROWNs were in or near GA during the 1830's and thereabouts and have any associated names, I could send you the information from the book that might interest you.
