I've never 'donated' my gedcom to them; but I accept that businesses take & sell our gedcoms. Family Tree Maker has been doing THAT for some time now. I figure, as long as I know about it in the beginning, its up to me whether or not I give them my information. As far as their services, I never paid for anything. I did the transcription. It amounted to about 10 names for an hour's worth of service. Didn't seem that hard to me, but I'm a pretty quick typist. The end result is that I did connect with a gedcom they had that I've not found anywhere else, and if the person who submitted it responds (they didn't give an email address, so I've had to contact them thru snailmail), I'll have one branch of the family back to the colonies. At least I have the name of the town the family came from in New Hampshire, and that was worth its weight in gold! I guess individual results will vary; but it worked for me. ~*~Lissa~*~ Rootsweb Sponsor
