March 8, 2001 RENO, Alice M. Funeral services for Alice M. RENO were held March 7 at the Williamson Funeral Chapel with Rev. Ogland BARGER officiating. She was born Jan. 20, 1910 in LeFlore County to William Martin SHARP and Lenora POOL SHARP and died March 5 at the Wetumka General Hospital at the age of 91. Mrs. RENO was raised in LeFlore County and attended school there. She was married to Newell WARD and they continued to live there. He preceded her in death in 1935. She was later married to Charlie Reno. They continued living in LeFlore County before relocating to California during the depression years. They finally settled in Wichita Falls, Tx. For a few years before coming to Wetumka around 1965. He preceded her in death in 1981. Mrs. RENO served several hears as a volunteer for the Wetumka Senior Citizens Center where she loved to quilt. She was a long time member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church. Along with her husbands, she was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, five sisters, a son, Newell WARD in 1998 and a daughter, Ollie Mae PROVENCE in 2000. Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Wand WARD of Pierce City, MO.; a son-in-law, L. G. GREEN of Holdenville; six grandchildren, Laverne and Kathy WARD, of Holt, Mo., Newell Jr. and Cindy WARD of Monett, Mo., Melvin WARD of Pierce City, Mo., Debbie CONLEY, Charlene and Clinton GLASS, all of Holdenville and Coy and Shannon PROVENCE of El Paso, Tx.; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; a step-great-great-grandchild; a sister Ada HALE of Poteau; two step-daughters, Hazel FORD of Peoria, Az., and Gladys RENO of Texas; and several niceness, nephews and other relatives. Pallbearers were Laverne WARD, Newell WARD, Jr., Jermie MOORE, LeRoy HIGGINBOTHAM and Clinton GLASS. Interment was in the Wetumka Cemetery under the direction of Williamson Funeral Home. March 8, 2001 HARJO, Joseph Funeral services for Joseph HARJO were held March e at the High Spring Indian Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy ANDERSON officiating. He was born July 15, 1926 near Weleetka to James HARJO and Mattie Byrd HARJO and died March 1 at this home in Weleetka at the age of 74. Nr, HARJO was raised in Pharoah area. He attended school there and graduated from Pharoah high school in 1943. Following graduation, he attended college at Haskell Institute in Lawrence, Ks. and Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee. He entered the United States Navy during World War II. He served on board the USS Cahaba, USS C. J. Badger, USS Monssen and USS Charrette. Mr. HARJO received the World War II Victory badge, the American Campaign Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Ribbon (3 stars) and the Philippine Liberation Campaign Ribbon (1 star). He later enlisted in the United States Army where he served another three years, giving six years of service to his country. Following his discharge, he returned to his home at Pharoah. He relocated to California for several months but soon returned to his Oklahoma home. During the 1950's, he worked as a dormitory advisor and was associated with the Sequoyah Vocational Indian School in Tahlequah and the Ft. Sill Indian School in Lawton. Mr. HARJO had also worked at the Creek Nation Hospital in Okemah and the Carl Albert Hospital in Ada, as well as for the Creek Nation Environment Program at the Okmulgee Tribal Complex. After retirement, he settled in Weleetka where he had lived the past several years. Mr. HARJO was baptized at the Weogufkee Indian Baptist Church near Hanna and had most recently been a member of the First Baptist Church in Okemah. He enjoyed working out-of-doors and loved telling about his service experienced. Mr. HARJO was preceded by in death by his parents and a sister, Wand Jean WIND. Survivors include a brother Eugene HARJO of Weleetka; two sisters, and a brother-in-law, Josephine and Monroe WIND of Wetumka and Bernie SCALY of Okemah; and several nieces and nephews and other relatives. Pallbearers were Clifford WERITO, James SCALY, Daniel WARD, Thomas Gene WIND, Clifford SCALY, and Allen WIND. Interment was in the High Springs Cemetery under the direction of Williamson Funeral Home of Wetumka. March 8, 2001 LITTLE, Millie Funeral services for Millie LITTLE were held March 5 at the Greenleaf Indian Baptist Church with Rev. Judson DEER officiating. She was born Nov. 4, 1921 in Wetumka to John and Hattie (FRANCIS) THOMAS and died Feb. 28 at her home near Okemah. She had lived most of her life as a homemaker in the Okemah area. Mr. LITTLE was a member of the Greenleaf Indian Baptist Church. Survivors include her children, Christine TIGER of Ada, Agnes HICKS, Minnie LITTLE, Sally BUCKTROT, Cathy LITTLE and "Weasel" LITTLE All of Okemah, Harvey LITTLE and David LITTLE, both of Seminole, Thomas LITTLE of Tulsa, Jerry LITTLE of Okmulgee, Laura CLOUD of Falls Church, Va., Douglas LITTLE of Sundown, Tx. And Harley LITTLE of Muskogee; 32 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Oscar HICKS, Billy COON, Curtis HICKS, Bo LITTLE, Mitchell FISH and Roy GRAMMER. Interment was in the LITTLE private Family Cemetery near Okemah under the direction of the McLemore-Sloan Funeral Home of Tulsa. March 8, 2001 CARTER, Lonnie Funeral services for Lonnie CARTER, longtime Stuart resident, were held March 3 in Stuart at the gymnasium with Bat PATTERSON and Bob HUSKY officiating. He was born Jan. 25, 1947 in Greasy Creek, near Wetumka, to Garland and Artie CARTER and died March 1 in Stuart at the age of 54. Mr. CARTER was raised in Holdenville and Yeager area. On June 24, 1988, he married Deanna DOBSON in Ft. Smith, Ar. And the couple made their home in Stuart. He was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church of Stuart and enjoyed woodcrafts. Mr. CARTER was a veteran of the U. S. Army, serving in Vietnam and was retired from the McAlester Ammunition Depot. Survivors include his wife, Deanna CARTER of the home; children, Bobbie Jo CARTER of the home, Phillip CARTER and wife, Teresa, of Sallisaw; parents, Garland and Artie CARTER of Holdenville; brothers and sisters, Wayne CARTER and wife Ginger, of Wewoka; Jim CARTER and wife, Linda, and Jean ELLIOTT and husband, Clinton, all of Holdenville, David CARTER and wife, Shelley, of Yeager, Kenny STORTES and wife, Marta, of Broken Arrow, Terry KIRBY and Kathy BARKSDALE and husband, Mike, all of Shawnee, Lind JOHNSON and husband, J. J., of Batesville, Ar. and Ricky FICK of Sacramento, Ca.; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives. March 8, 2001 TREAT, Arlen Lee Funeral services for Arlen Lee TREAT were held Mar 3 at Hudson-Phillips Chapel in Holdenville. She was born March 30, 1934 in Lamar to Annabelle (ARTHUR) and Fred ROSE and died Feb. 27 in Tecumseh at the age of 66. She was raised in Lamar and attended school there. At the age of 16, she moved to Holdenville for 20 years. Two years ago, Mrs. TREAT moved to Tecumseh where she remained until her death. She married Charley TREAT in 1952 in Las Cruces, N.M. and he preceded her in death. Mrs. TREAT enjoyed working with flowers and plants and crocheting. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Annabelle Mitchell and Fred ROSE. Survivors include her children, Larry TREAT and wife, Rae, of Ada, Barbara MILLER and husband, Roy, of Choctaw and Ronnie TREAT of Oklahoma City; brothers, Orville ROSE and wife, Bobbie, of Holdenville and Harold ROSE and wife, Francine, of Sawyer, Ks.: grandchildren, Tina WHITE and Connie TREAT, both of Oklahoma City, and Ronnie TREAT, Jeanna TREAT and Judy TREAT, all of Ada, five great-grandchildren; and other relatives. Pallbearers were Wilburn ARTHUR, Leroy ARTHUR, Mike ARTHUR, Guy WHITE, Harold ROSE and Orville ROSE. Interment was in the Holdenville Cemetery under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home.
